A disgusted US shopper has shamed supermarket chain Safeway by posting a photo of a packet of chicken breast with a severed chicken foot inside.
The woman, identified as Lindsey by her Twitter handle @liiindseyyy412, uploaded the photo taken in a Phoenix Safeway store in Arizona along with the message: "Hey, @Safeway, does this look like 'chicken breast' to you? I'm vomiting".
Linsdey claims she was shopping for dinner on Wednesday night when she snapped the photo, which quickly generated a social media frenzy.
Safeway was quick to respond, tweeting back: "Which location was this at?! #yikes #heretohelp"
The supermarket chain has since emailed Linsdey promising a "thorough investigation" into how the foot found its way into the packet.
Some social media users have voiced their disgust but others have rounded on Lindsey for taking offence.
Yeah right...that's a photoshopped human hand!

It was a long long time ago but I still think of it every time I see a Fry's chocolate bar

Just because they allegedly had a chicken foot in with the packets of breasts? So what? packets of chicken feet are the norm in my local Safeway packed chicken cuts, not my choice, but popular with the Asian community.

So lets post a photo on twitter instead of reporting it to a supermarket worker?
For other reasons as well I'm calling this fake too!

Here’s Safeway’s full statement:
"We appreciate that our customer notified us about an object in a package of chicken breasts. We have confirmed with the supplier that the object was a chicken foot, which is a product that the supplier processes and sells to other retailers. While the part does not pose a health risk, we are investigating how it became packaged in with our product. The package was removed from sale."
