Re: Hot in Wallyroo

I don't think it's been under 38c here for the last 10 days or so (max 45c). 41c today, 43c tomorrow, 41c Monday and then praise the lord relief at last. Mid 20s for the next 3 or 4 days ๐Ÿ˜‰

climate change ? .....Read an interesting article in the Weekly Times ( Victorian farmers newspaper ) this week. One farming family has rainfall records dating back to when Cook landed ( almost ) for their family farm. They claim the average annual rainfall has dropped 30% in the last 35 years.

I know on our semi arid farm we can no longer grow many of the ornamental Eucalypt trees that where planted as wind breaks in the 1970's & early 80's as there is simply not the rainfall to support them any more. In the early 80's I planted a line of River Red gums in a soakage area that would go under water each winter. That spot has not been flooded ever in the last ten years. The native Wattle are also definately blooming a few weeks earlier than they used to. And the radient heat of the sun on those hot days. I used to run around without a shirt on years ago in the heat. Now a person would be toast in ten minutes.

The knockers and big business can scoff, but nature doesnt lie.

Re: Hot in Wallyroo

40 Degrees forecast here today with winds later in the afternoon. Just off for a little drive to turn all of the electric fences off. They can start fires in extreme weather.
