Have you ever had a car that you now wish you'd kept? I got my driver's license during the heyday of muscle cars, when GM. Ford, and Chrysler were in a battle for the hearts and souls of young drivers, aided by songs like,

After a few "almost good enough" rides, I finally got my hands on my dream car.......a '65 Malibu SS with an L79 327.

Now we're talking!!
468 cube Camaro circa 1975..........11 second, street legal..........That's the station I worked at in the back ground.

I drove my '65 Malibu to the East Coast, then put it in storage for a deployment to the Med. Upon return, I got a wild hair and traded it in on a brand new '71 Camaro. Not being satisfied with the performance, when I returned to Oregon, I swapped in a 396 Rat motor with the works...........
It was faster than beejezus, but with the 4.56:1 gears, I couldn't take it on trips, and the girlfriend at the time really wanted to take trips............

We have drags here, um every month I think. They use the local airstrip, and anyone can take their car along and have a burn.
Viewmonty, is that an early 80's SR250 you're sitting on?

After a few months nattering at me, and my realizing that under 10mpg wasn't a good thing, I traded the 71 Camaro in on a "trip-taking" vehicle...........a '73 Malibu SS454, loaded...........
This was the first ride I ever owned that had an automatic.............big mistake. In '73, Chevrolet put the TH-350 behind the 454, and changed the formulation of their ATF...........which turned out to eat the solder between the trans cooler and the radiator. To top it off............the girlfriend said "Adios" about 6 months (and two trips) later.

I have an '82 model in the shed I've been seriously thinking about selling it, but I'd hate to see it turned in to a bobber.
