We managed for about 3,000 back in the nineties that was having the reception in a 5 star motel overlooking Parliament house in SA. Mother made wedding dress and bridesmaid dress, stayed on the Yorke Peninsula in a friends holiday house for a week and celebrant did the ceremony free, Meals were included but people paid for their own drinks. Part of me thinks I should have had a barn dance and invited everyone I wanted as I was limited to about 40 people. Thing is it doen't matter how much you spend on a wedding what matters is that you are wanting to spend your life with and make a commitment to the person you love.
It can still be a memorable day it doesn't have to be a day where you spend thousands, you can make the most beautiful memories regardless.

My Dad, the father of 5 daughters, encouraged elopement - even left the ladder for easy access.
