I was chatting to a friend from Adelaide tonight who is selling her house in a beachside suburb (Semaphor Beach?). Shes about a block away from the waters edge so I thought she'd get a few mill. (I'm from Sydney lol!).
But she reckons she'll be happy to hit the $500,000 mark.
I can't imagine a house so close to the city and so close to the water selling for that price but then again, being from Sydney, I am a little skewed when it comes to real estate.
So what do you think is a fair price to pay for a house 10km from the CBD?
(Perhaps mention where you are from when you answer - it might put your response into perspective)

I have visited her a few times karli. That's why I was so surprised the house was worth so little (relatively).
It is surprising that the values are not higher. I like it better than Glenelg area.

I want the biggest house i can afford on the smallest plot of land I can get, close enough to my neighbours so I can overhear their their most intimate arguments.
I want to commute to work about an hour either way and have to leave home before the little ankle biters wake up and get home long after they have gone to bed.
I want the suburban dream.

Oh and i want to borrow $350,000 on an income of $45,000 and take up some religion or other so I can pray that i don't get laid off.

I was born and grew up in Adelaide......
If the house is on the Esplanade at Semaphore, it would sell for about a million as it would be directly over from the beach.
If not and is a couple of streets away, your friend would probably be correct in what she is saying price wise.
Adelaide is also flat, unlike Sydney that is hilly and with good views from those hills.

we are hilly and them hills are currently on fire, so we definitely have hills.
Compared to most of Australia SA is pretty cheap when it comes to decent houses for a decent price

I suppose it might depend on what the crop in the roof was worth.]:)
