I think people don't realise how often the city goes into lock-down mode.
I do a lot of work for Parliament House and over the last 2 years I don't have enough fingers to tell you how many times I have been there for a meeting or site inspection only to find myself trapped because someone has made a threat or is sitting out the front telling security they have a bomb strapped to them.
The staff are always calm and the evacuation (when we can evacuate) is orderly.
I had a meeting there on the morning of the seige and even up until 11am, they were still telling me it wouldn't be a problem to get to them. They thought it would all blow over like all the others do. Sadly they are very used to threats like this.

We are not safe anywhere.. Sydney CBD, small idyllic town..cafe in Tasmania... we only have to be in the same place at the same time as a mad/bad evil person.
Can't live our life in fear.

It is not acceptable
It will never be acceptable
Until every one of these mongrels is
Dead, imprisoned or leave this country

It's easy to get overwhelmed. I'm not concerned with terrorists within our country. It's susceptible children (young adults) that are most at risk.
They are allured to some kind of freedom fighting on the internet for something that they know nothing about. It seems that one young man was beheaded because he was seduced and wanted to come home.
