When I was in the US, people didnt use their phones as they do here..........it has become an addiction in Aust.
They why it costs so much more here, they dont have to be compeditive to attract uesers to use the service, and TXTs are a gold mine to a telco charging the same for a few bytes of info at the same rate as a minute of voice.

We recently had a family dinner at a restaurant. hubby's
birthday. 10 of us. Should have seen the look on everyone's
faces when they were told to turn off their mobiles, and put
them in the bag provided, and they would get them back
when the night was over! Priceless

I said "What did you pay to come to the movies for if you cant stop looking at your phone. Get out or turn it off"
