One pushy American mother sent out a rather demanding list ahead of her child's first birthday party - and the details of her gift requests have gone viral after one recipient posted the email on Reddit. (Read the note in full at the end of the article.)
While asking for four specific items from a certain side of the family, the unnamed mum makes it quite clear that deviations from this list will not be met gratefully.
She requests a water table, a play tent, a play tunnel, and a book, writing: "If you are unable to get these items, please let us know so we can buy them right away for him."
Thinking of getting something not on the list?
"Please be sure to always include a receipt going forward," the mum writes. "When we return items without receipts, we only get about 50 per cent of the value, so it's like throwing away money if you don't include a receipt with the gifts.

I think a gift registry is a great idea. I just don't think people should add a detailed email, with 4 must have items from a list. This woman is demanding the items, and threatening to go buy them herself if her selfish relatives won't succumb to her demands.
Apparently she can afford 4 expensive useless things for her baby, but the cost of formula is a royal pain to her pocketbook. My kids never had one ounce of formula, so maybe my sympathy level is slightly skewed on that one.
It is very convenient to go on-line, clickity click click, send. Most on-line sites even mail the item directly to the recipient of said gift.
I hate wrapping things, and posting them. I've used the clickity click gift giving method on several occasions.
The registry keeps track of the items that are purchased; so duplicate gifts are kept to a minimum.
Congrats to your son, and by all means, tell him to register for gifts. It really is more convenient for everyone.
You can register for $5 items to high dollar items. The gift givers can decide what they can afford.

My marriage over 50 years ago--got about 7 bread toasters
Toaster was used every morning and a couple of times a week i would go home at lunch time.
After 2 weeks 3 toasters had blown up.
Asked the missus--what are you doing wrong?
Nothing-i even wash the crumbs out after each use.
Found the problem.......................................................Richo.

LOL I saw this one on FB, I'd be tempted to go and buy her some therapy vouchers so she can access the help she so obviously needs.

I was at a store today, and I saw a water table. I was laughing at the memory of the picture on this thread, and told my husband about the thread.
Where's my flicken water table? LMAO....

I had to look up kid's water tables - didn't know what they were.
Unsupervised, a 1 y.o can drown in 2 inches of water
Don't even know why these are available for littlies.
Always safety first for me
And she's an idiotic mother!!
