Campbell Newman......
He has come to Bundaberg many times since the floods along with Tony Abbott... KRudd is yet to visit once... and since Rudd did not sign off on a lot of relief money he probably won't be well received if he does visit.
Anyway.. back to Mr Newman.... he has made some fantastic changes for our region and today he made a big announcement today that will create 500 jobs for the area...
I was very impressed with Mr Newman and feel very happy that my vote went to such an amazing man.
And for those that want to cry about the cuts I suggest you all look at the latest stats and see how much QLD has grown in the last 12 or so months. Jobs and growth are above and beyond what the rest of the countries growth has been.

Martini.... yes, there are hard times in my town and that is why I was so pleased with the expansion of the Port plan as that is 500 jobs that we need.
Campbell Newman has made many visits to our region since the floods and so has Tony Abbott. Gillard never visited after the flood and Kevin Rudd has not been near the place. I think that speaks volumes that the PM Gillard not only says the floods were not that bad after over 2000 homes were flooded but Rudd cut the aid money to help us recover.
I think Gillard was up there in January?
She visited during the floods... never came back after that. She then went on to say that the floods were not as bad as last time...

Ahh, so she didn't say "they weren't that bad", she said "they weren't as bad as the last floods"
context kinda puts a different perspective on it, eh?
Kinda curious, once the floods were over,, why would there be an expectation that Ms Gillard would return? I mean, what would you want her to do? Bake some scones and pass out cups of tea?
It'd be my guess that her local reps were passing on any relevant information that she needed to consider. The saying "why have dogs and bark yourself" comes to mind.
Micromanagement would have just seemed like and been touted as a desperate attempt to gain public favour.

Ms Gillard said she didn't visit sooner because she didn't want to get in the way of the rescue efforts.
"It's always a question of judgment when it's best to come," she said.
"I don't want to come when the emergency, you know, right in the thick of it, when people's attention is getting people off roofs and savings lives."
She said she'd been overwhelmed by the community spirit in Bundaberg.
"It's a great tribute to the local people," she said.
January 31st.
Personally I don't see any point in them visiting disaster zones. Do the job they are paid to do and get relief for the people affected.

Queensland Floods 2010–2011
These recent Queensland floods left three quarters of the state declared as a disaster zone and resulted in the forced evacuation of thousands of people. Communities and towns were left damaged when the Fitzroy and Burnett Rivers flooded as well as the Condamine, Ballone and Mary Rivers. The Lockyer Valley was also hard hit and devastated communities.
Eventually the overflow of water impacted Brisbane River, which lead to 70 towns being flooded, killing 35 people. The floods led to crop damage causing price increases for the rest of the country. These were the worst floods in Australian history in relation to damage to infrastructure and the size of the cost to rebuild.
can you name all the other natural disasters people in this Country (not just Bundaberg) experienced in the Rudd/Gillard Government years ?

but someone's gotta gake the scones and make cups of tea.
