Re: I wanna know........

that was for your post on rights Topside, not the earlier one.

Just a question, if NZ is so great and offers so much, how come so many of them come over here?

I don't know the figures but I wonder how many Aussies move to NZ compared to how many NZ's move here.

Jawbs........plus its frickin cold down south.

Humans are ignorants beasts.

The best example is going to your local shopping center carpark.

Watch the people who park their car right on the line leaving twice as much room on the other side, then when they get out scratch the car next to them getting our or hit their door against the car next to them.

There is no train of thought the clicks in and says 'I would not like if somone did this to my car, I shouldn't do that to others'.

Same goes with just leaving your trolley next to someones car rather than walking it to the trolley bay.

The 'do us to others' line of thinking does not seem to enter many peoples brains as of late.

Re: I wanna know........

crikey the thing wrong with your think is, when there is no one left with a job where is the money going to come from to but any thing regardless of where it comes from.

People need jobs and they need to work, its as simple as that. and when I say need to work I am not just talking about for money.

Re: I wanna know........

there will be no jobs in some industries, but other industries are emerging every second.

You don't seriously believe, in this day of modern technolgy that jobs for Australians will become obsolete, do you?

It is now possible to work for and/or operate a business located overseas from your comfy office in your Queensland home.

Re: I wanna know........

Our problem with work is China, it is a double edged sword.

We rely on China for selling raw minerals for their production of goods.

Our food production sectore benefits by feeding their growing population.

On the other hand they are killing not only our manufacturing, but Europes as well in areas such as German solar panals.

So while they need our minerals(that need goes up and down) and that helps us with mining jobs, our expertise at making goods locally  isn't what is used to be.

Europe is gathering to discuss the problems they face with Chinese goods, we shoudl be sending people to get some ideas.

Re: I wanna know........

That maybe so but not everyone will be able to do that, I don't care for myself anymore as I have every thing I need and want.

Its the have nots that I feel for, the people that would typically work or in a factory or an office some where.

The gap between the classes is getting bigger each day and a second class of citizen is starting to emerge and its getting bigger every time a manufacturer closes up shop and moves off shore

Re: I wanna know........

with that line of thinking, I can only believe that you're thinking the days of the hand crafted boot or saddle should have been sustained so that only the very rich could afford them - same for hand made clothing/tailors, that the industrial revolution should never have occurred and that we should all still be slaying our own beasts, wearing their skins for clothes, using their bones for wind chimes or tooth picks or childhood games like jacks and knuckles and cooking their meat over a camp fire under the night sky whilst singing along to music made by tapping two sticks together and using the leaves to wipe our bottoms with.

The next generation is being retrained to face the global demands. And whilst ever there are people populating Australia, there will be jobs for people here to service our population.

They may not be in manufacturing, but for the foreseeable future, people will always be needed for the logistics of the supply chain at least - how else will the products which we source from overseas get onto the shelves in our stores or into our homes?

The service industry, from the child care assistant to the waiter in your local restaurant to the person who washes the dishes or operates your local plane hobby club to the person who cleans the offices and other places will always have positions for those unable to or not wanting to enter the global market.

The key is to recognize what the global market is and demands so that we can train as many people as possible to take on those roles, leaving other roles for those who don't want or can't access them.

Flip side of that coin, if the service industry becomes understaffed, their scarcity will logically lead to an increase in wages for them as employers struggle to supply the services that they offer.
