It was almost the midnight hour and I was driving home from work. No traffic at all on the road and I guess it was too easy to not notice I was speeding. I heard the whoop woop and looked in my rear vision mirror and there he was.
I've seen cop shows on TV where if the driver gets out of car the police can shoot 'em. So I stayed in my car and wound down the window and my kitty heart was pounding. Not because he was built like a footballer but because it's my first time.
He wanted my licence and he sat in his car for ages! Why? It's not like I have a rap sheet (cop shows again).
Then he gave me a speeding ticket which I deserved and off I went red faced.
When was the last time you were given a traffic ticket?

CatM - how long have you got to pay it? If you don't pay the fine in the first month, I think you get a reminder and that has an extended date on it.. another month or two.

What's this about rego stickers becoming obsolete?
You can normally ask for time to pay it off, if shown it could cause hardship.
Rego stickers have been history in SA for a bit over a year now. Created all sorts of "fun" for SA drivers visiting interstate, particularly Vic, where they were getting pulled over, fined, made to leave their cars parked until they could provide "suitable" evidence of current registration. Apparently, the standard issue notice from Transport SA with receipt number on it wasn't good enough, nor was looking it up online via the official SA Govt "check rego expiry date" web page.
Strangely, since their demise, detection of unregisterd vehicles over here has multiplied, along with the value of the fine. Yes, we cynics are agreed on it being planned that way.

My daughter was very heavily fined for using her mobile phone.
She had pulled up at traffic lights and was using her google maps app to find directions. She showed the policeman who had pulled her over the screen was on google maps but he told her there was no reason whatsoever to be looking at her phone.
She wasn't very impressed either.

Too bad?
The police told my nephew he was *barely over the limit*.......I dont think it is fair. As Carl said the serial drink drivers get away with it.

Oh, and as for "saving money" on not issuing stickers, at that same time, they upped our "administration fee" by $1.00. Perhaps if they upped it by $2, that could have more than covered the "cost" of a sticker, and made more profit on top.

He was over the limit...how many times has he drove and been over the limit? I have no time for drunk drivers. Thank goodness he was picked up and hopefully learned a lesson.

Take every chance they can get to sting car owners don't they? With the high $$ penalties for driving offences, the powers that be must be raking in a fortune.
Mind you they removed 2 or 3 fixed speed cameras here (NSW) recently. Residents did campaign that the placement of those fixed speed cameras had nothing to do with safety and they were only to raise revenue. Surprisingly they did get removed.

Cuddly ummm yes I was speeding quite a bit... 69 in a 50 zone
I might have to apply for an extension to pay mine. It's due first week of October but I'm already struggling just to pay my winter bills. I pay them on time but I'm down to the wire. *sigh*
I always wondered why we needed rego stickers, so old fashioned considering we live in the age of technology.

TS........it was the first time, you will find that if you read my post properly.
I have no time for drunk drivers anyway.
He still has his licence till the end of the month, if he was drunk, they would have taken his licence away then and there, but he has been driving around for a couple of weeks.
