Convicted drug boss Tony Mokbel is reportedly under investigation over an attack at Barwon Prison that left an inmate in hospital.

Corrections Victoria will not confirm Mokbel's involvement, but says a 48-year-old prisoner was involved in an alleged assault last week.

The department says the other prisoner was taken to hospital for a suspected broken nose and Victoria Police is investigating.

Mokbel is serving a 30-year sentence, with a non-parole period of 22-years, for trafficking more than 45 kilograms of ecstasy and $4 million worth of speed.

The drugs boss was on the run 15 months before he was arrested in Athens in 2007.

LL  I must admit that I thought he was probably dead too.

I didn't watch the show.

I seem to remember that one of the crime figures died overseas before he could be extradited to Oz.  ????
