If I have to pay to see the GP

I might just take a bit longer and get my moneys worth.

Usually I am aware of people waiting (but there will be less of them apparently) so I can take my time ๐Ÿ™‚

Something you may not know is every Australian who works has to pay a Medicare levy.

Re: If I have to pay to see the GP

yes, we already pay the levy.

A CO-PAYMENT of $6 for bulk-billed visits to GPs will be included in the Abbott governmentโ€™s first budget with the aim of saving $750 million over the next four years.

The expenditure review committee has decided to go ahead with the co-payment, including a proposal to cap it at 12 visits, meaning a maximum extra cost of $72 a year for patients.

Re: If I have to pay to see the GP

Our doctor stopped bulk billing a few years ago & it already costs us about $75.00 but they refund thirty something back into your bank account.

I don't understand the govt. I don't know anyone who overuses the doctor or goes there for fun. Maybe doctor's are just busier because of the aging population? So why penalize them?

i got refused service at a medical centre after declining to see a doctor who had appaling english

i rang before hand and asked for a doctor who's first language was english..........was told that would be fine.

if i am paying for a service i should have a right as to who provides it

apparently i am racist
