If I have to pay to see the GP

I might just take a bit longer and get my moneys worth.

Usually I am aware of people waiting (but there will be less of them apparently) so I can take my time ๐Ÿ™‚

Doc certificates can be attained from chemists, no need to visit a GP just for them.
I didn't know that!

I haven't read all the thread but I was under the impression that the charges and getting rid of bulk billing was not because people were utilizing the services but because doctors themselves were rorting the system? might be, I have NFI

& on the other hand, I know people who are supposedly owed years of sick days because they never take them.

Our emergency Departments here on the Gold Coast were so overcrowded, that we now have a service where doctors come to the house for free to treat non critical illnesses (and other things too) If you tell the lady on the phione it is heart, they call you an ambulance, but for anything else, they just send out a doctor (after hours service)

we have a bulk billing radio Dr service that's available after hours and weekends. Hardly anyone seems to know about it, I had to call them out and I had $120 sitting on the table waiting to pay, he whipped out one of those card machines for my medicare card, I was pleasantly surprised.

I think it's great, if i have a sick kid vomiting everywhere, the last place I want to be is sitting in the public hospital waiting room for hours on end. would much rather them at home in their beds or their own bathrooms whilst they waited for the doctor to see them, and then, if the doc thinks they need a hospital, then take them in.

Our private hospital costs minimum $240, just to go through accident and emergency, that's without any tests and is not covered by medicare or health fund (tests are charged separately) so before I go there, i really want to make sure that my kid is sick and not just 'trying one on".

It;'s not until you are actually admitted that the health fund kicks in.

5 years ago, a few days after Little Crikey got out of hospital, Middle fella got really crook and was crying inn pain. Scared that he had what the little girl had, we rushed him straight to hospital where they kept him in hospital for 3 days in the emergency department (as they couldn't find anything wriong with him and woiuldn't allow the peady to admit him until they could) and it cost $3000 to find out the kid was constipated.

Yeah, I just wouldn't assume that every time someone has a day off near a holiday that it.'s due to a hang-over

But then I don't know the type of places you're referring to ๐Ÿ™‚

oh, you know, brothels, crack houses, the kinds of places i always hang around....

hey! I didn't make the rules, we just abide by them.

It also seems that an awful lot of people get sick for exactly 11 days a year..... I wonder if that's got anything to do with the fact that they don't roll over or accumulate for non salaried employees where my OH works?

you only assume they only get sick 11 days a year, a lot of people can't afford a day off even when sick, so they go in.

I agree with you, but a lot also seem to accumulate their sick days too, the ones where they do roll over.

The world aint perfect. There will always be those who are genuine and those who push the system.

yes and they are often the ones making everyone else ill because they drag themselves in  sniffling and snorting, "proudly" proclaiming they "haven't had a sickie in 21 years, 4 months and 3 days, like they should get a medal or something, pffft - they should be sent home for everyone else's benefit.
