Is faith compatible with science or reality?
Do you think you have to forego rational thinking to have faith?
Do you have faith based on reason?
If science contradicts scripture, which then do you accept?
Can you have faith and also accept science? e.g. Can you accept evolution if it goes against scripture?
When a Muslim tells you that Mohommad flew to heaven on a winged horse, is this based on reason/science?

To question and to reason is another human condition.
Once reason and questing exposes mistruths blind faith is soon abandoned.
You could've just said reason and faith are not compatible. Saved you writing so much.

And those who don't acknowledge evolution(theistic or non-theistic) is that against science and reason?
That's a whole different question . It could be a number of things couldn't it ...lack of knowledge, lack of interest in knowing/acknowledging them ?
One of my sons once asked me some things that I didn't know how to answer (with just science or what I know of it )
If we came from apes ...why were we chosen to evolve ? Why did other ape species not evolve too ?
I'm not sure...can/does scientific evidence re evolution answer those questions ?

are you being serious? You really don't know that?

that's where some may believe that God played a part
asking if I was serious would seem to indicate that you yourself may find that kind of thinking unreasonable ?

I was referring to the question you were asked by your son. We ARE apes by the way. We did not evolve from apes. Us and other apes have a common ancestor. Our ancestor have features that resemble apes so it's a misunderstanding that we evolved from apes.
THere's no reason why a specie cannot persist. It's like Australians came from Europeans but why does european still exist and look the same. You have to understand natural selection to understand why certain species are more likely to evolve.
THis might sound a bit hard therefore religion comes in.
Where did humans come from? God did it.
WHere did apes come from? GOd did it.

I find you have to spell it out for some ppl

Bob, I thought you wanted to discuss this.
It seems that you have your mind set that science and faith can't be compatible.
You believe what you see evidence for
and that if something can't be proven it doesn't exist .
so why ask ?

there are scientists of various Faiths
as well as people of various faiths who acknowledge science and their faith.I know a Minister or two who acknowledge both .
If you have decided in your infinite wisdom that they aren't reasonable in doing so ...fair enough .I disagree

Actually I am after a discussion.
You have to provide an argument that faith can be compatible with reason or science.
I don't agree you need evidence to prove something exists.
However I'm arguing the point where reason and science proves a claim wrong, what's the rationale to continue to say that claim is STILL true despite evidence against it. I hope you're getting my point.

You're still missing my point. I'm saying when science and faith contradicts each other. What do you do then?
