Is Tony Abbott becoming more popular?

Are there any polls out there showing his popularity increase?

He means what he says and he does what he says. This makes him trustworthy.

But how does it make him a better Prime Minister than, say, Alfred Deaken or Robert Menzies - are you implying they were less trustworthy and if so what were their failings in that area?  And for a fair comparison we'd better make  that during their first six months in office?

I'm just stating my opinion. Abbott & Howard the best PMs of all time.

But surely you must have researched all our other Prime Ministers in order to make an educated comprison.

I have. That is why I have made this choice.

OK, so what makes them both better prime Ministers than Joseph Cook (elected in 1913)

You can't compare Abbott & Howard with any previous PMs. These guys are unique.

Every one of us is unique, UFO, but you have compared them - you  said Howard and Abbott are the best prime Ministers ever How is it possible to say that without impyling  a comparison with every Prime Minister who has gone before them

Re: Is Tony Abbott becoming more popular?

No, they're not unique. They are typical cynical serf-serving politicians only in the game to advance their own interest and those of the corporations which fund them.

They only serve to make the rich richer and the poor poorer.

You have compared them, not me. I simply said Abbott & Howard are the best PMs of all time. That is my rating. You are asking why I rate them this way. You can have a different opinion if you like. If you reckon Gillard was the best then that would be your opinion not mine. I'm not going to report each aspect and reasons why they are better. These guys are legends.

Not entirely, Polks. In another thread I made a statement to the effect that 2013 was Australia's hottest year ever and someone - I think it might even have been you - very properly took me to task over it, pointing out that there was no valid way of making that comparison. It was a foolish thing to have said and I admit it, I should have said the hottest year on record - which is a verifiable comparison. By the same token, anybody claiming that Tony Abbott, after a mere 6 months in office is the best Prime Minister Australia has ever had, should be prepared to back that opinion  up with a logical argument involving a comparison with our other Prime Ministers.

Actually, it is only 3 months and boats have not been stopped.  according to Morrison there were 20 boats with 1100 people since their plan "sovereign borders" was put in action.  Just because they did not announced any boats in past week or so means nothing.  It does not mean there were not any and it does not mean there will not be more in the future.  And in any case the arrivals were going down in the month before the election due to the ALP strategy.  But then again, maybe some people who were heading this way, decided they do not want to go to a country with government that is slowly becoming fascist.

The number does not include those that have been towed or turned back which is fair enough I suppose.

I made no comparison whatsoever. I am not an historian, I was not brought up in Australia, I know very little about any Australian Prime Ministers prior to Menzies andam  therefore not in a position to evaluate them in order of merit. You on the other hand have stated catagorically that Abbott is "the best Prime Minister ever" i.e a better Prime Ministers than any who have gone before him  and I was curious to know the evidence on which you were basing this sweeping statement.

Had you said I believe..... etc that would have made more sense - beliefs do not have to be rational or evidence based - but you didn't, you stated it as a fact..

IF I had ever said that Julia Gillard - or anyone else for that matter - was the best prime Minister ever then it would be an exceeding foolish and ill-informed statement and I woud expect someone to point that out to me,, but since I never have and never would make such a  statement - the suggestion is somewhat spurious.

It would appear that Abbott's student days show an alarming trend
