Our town water is bore water, it tastes disgusting
I know what you mean. When I was visiting Mackay back when the had a severe drought, we were on bore water. To me, the city dweller, it was horrible.
But then, being thirsty is pretty bad too, I believe.
'n that's why the good lord invented bottled spring water n water filters 🙂

We where the same. All of my family drank rain water, but I much preffered the bore water with all of its minerals. ( still do ). The family all came through OK. ...........although I do remember my mother boiling the tank water during the mouse plagues as there where probably hundreds of dead mice in the tanks.............sorry, ......gross I know, but true.
The report mentions that there are not many cases of people getting sick from drinking rain water from tanks. I suspect its a bit like kids and bacteria in the home. Mummies who use Detol spray on everything four times a day are producing sickly, weak kids with poor immune systems. A bit of dirt and a few flakes of lead based roof paint never hurt anyone.

Each to their own, if you like it, drink it ..... personally I wont touch it ...... Having said that my neighbour is over 80, still runs her own beef farm 'n only drinks tank water ...... Perhaps those who were raised on tank water, developed a better immumity to the bugs in it?

I,m not keen on the tank water either. I much prefer the artesian water that has been filtered for millions of years through the limestone aquifers. That was all I drank as a kid and the interesting thing was I didnt need fillings for tooth cavities. It seems the minerals in the water protected my teeth.

Here in Medford, Oregon, our water comes from a spring, deep in the wilderness. As a kid, the water coming out of the tap was so cold, it would instantly cause condensation. Today, since the shading forests are now gone, not so cold, but still sweet. That is until summer comes, and the demand requires that it be supplemented by water from the Rogue River.......tepid water with just the slightest hint of chlorine. Fortunately the beer seems unaffected.

Seems like the rainwater itself is usually okay, it is just the collection & distribution you have to be careful about.
This reminds me of a kid's book i read years ago-hadn't thought about this aspect of it really.
But all the rain is recycled water anyway. The rain that is falling on us nowadays once fell on the dinosaurs.
