Is there a special name for a ramekin?

just little bowls to put your mustards and sauces etc in for on the dinner table?

I've got a white dinner set with gold edges, and trying to find matching dishes etc - I just know them as ramekins, but is there a special name?

Thanks

I collect old china trio's, I have 2 display units, each cup saucer and plate has a tiny dainty little spoon in the saucer, I use the above process to brighten the spoons up once they begin to get the tarnish look.

Do you realise that the ones you have listed as the solution are milk glass and

not china?

Maybe these - no gold trim, but la-de-da bone china

Re: Is there a special name for a ramekin?

LOL, no lobster - but I have to have some fish cos there are 2 pretendy vegetarians coming for lunch. There will be about 10 stay on for dinner too, and then the afterparty.

but dont't most people have a roast and a ham for christmas? (besides, my brother got that, so it would be a bit rude not to serve it)

and I have to have cloth puddings cos my grandma always had those. so its like she is there, and grandpa used to get a kick out of finding the coins in his serve LOL (But my pouddings aren't as good as grandmas though)

what else there don't people normally have?

Apparently I'm supposed to have a trifle and caramel tart as well! (But I draw the line at trifle, we call it "pigs' trough delight" LOL

and the little girl has decided she wants to make cupcakes and decorate them with pastilage stuff too now.

BTW, I found the most awesome ramekin thingyies in Kmart today - they are individual casserole dishes LOL but they have lids - and they were only $2 each LOLOL so solved that too - with the ones she ele found for me last night, I'm gonna have enough condiment dishes for a lifetime!

They had little tiny spoons too 12 for $6

that's a lot of effort and a big build up to what no doubt will be an emotional day for you.I hope that the success of the day doesn't totally depend on your Mother's approval of everything you do.

who is 'The little girl' ? Is that a friend's child?

Kmart have  a bit off 'knockoff'  (copies of major brands) stuff in the kitchen dept. I have seen plastic containers with lids that look just like Tupperware (probably not as good re seal) designs, teapots that are a copies of zero teapot brand.. I don't know how they get away with that.
