This is not 'a gift that fell from the sky', it was a sentimental possession lost in a car park.
Surely the request to claim it on insurance is dodgy!

Clergymen hey. I bet that story makes most of them cringe.

A clergyman who was a lawyer in a past life :^O

Even if I had the bracelet for 1-2 years, I would still give it back gratis.
I think most would.
(I think his boss might have words with him at the pearly gates). 😉
I agree.....
I think he better be careful that a gift in the form of an anvil doesn't fall from the sky onto his greedy head :^O

Wow!
what a very unchristian thing for someone to do. Previous life as a lawyer probably has a lot to do with it though, lol

A lawyer turned clergyman, also now a restaurant owner?
It would be nice if he gave them back the bracelet and the owners gave him a $100 as a thank you.. that is the most he could expect.
Not very Christian like to try and make money out of someone else's misfortune.
I found a small cheapish looking bracelet in the supermarket car park once and handed it in to the mall management.

Oh, didn't read that properly. - not him that owns the restaurant, that is the guy that brought the bracelet.

hmm... I can see both sides of this, he did hand it in and it was given back as unclaimed, what if he gave it to someone as a gift already?

If he had already given it to someone as a gift already, he may not have taken it to a jeweller first to find out its value?
If he did find out the value first, then would have to like the person a lot to give them a bracelet valued at $6500.
I read somewhere else the owners offered him $500 for giving back the bracelet...before he made his claim for 50%.
If the owners get or are in receipt of money from the insurance company for the bracelet, then I guess it fair if he gets 1/2 of the insurance payout.. otherwise the owners would have the money and the bracelet.
It is not clear is it, whether the owners have already put in a claim for the lost bracelet and received a payout BEFORE the Rev tracked them down as owners of his found bracelet?
