Trying to make sure Labor doesn't get back in?
Given that Tony Abbott is so incredibly unpopular.
Solved! Go to Solution.

The more Abbott reacts the better he makes Turnbull look, at a glance.
I will be surprised if a challenge goes ahead. He will probably make the vote on it a show of hands and it will fizzle out.

Yes, I have already replied to you in other threads about that. Abbott is a marked man whether he makes it through this leadership challenge or not.
If he is still PM at next election.. good bye LNP party -- that is what other LNP backbenchers/MPs are concerned about, they want him gone now. Start off with a new Leader so they have time to, cough, try & get the publics respect back before the next election.
if he does get through tomorrow, it will be with the knowledge that at least 30 odd from his own party do not suport him. I can't see him lasting but if he does, it's goodbye to the libs at the next fed election anyway the libs know they stand to lose 45 seats federally if they keep abbott on as PM,

Bringing the vote forward is a tactical move because it throws the opposition a curve ball
where they have to re adjust their plans.

Yes, I know. The people who MIGHT stand against him.
You can't carry out an attack unless you have the numbers and that takes time.
He took 24 hours away from them.
Hence it being a tactical move.
It doesn't matter who the "enemy" is, tactics and tactical moves are the same.

Hence it being a low sneaky act, not surprising as that is his style.
Why would you call members of Abbott's party, the opposition?
Bringing foward the meeting time might push more against him.

Not at all.
It is only because Abbott will be torn to pieces in parliament on Monday if the spill was on Tuesday.

Shows he is running scared as well. If he is as confident of remaining PM as he claims he is, he wouldn't have done that.
