Julie Bishop for PM?.....??

V3000 , my point,  which I have made a few times before and which P007 ignores (inconvenient to the party line),  is that within the legal system  the cab-rank rule is the obligation of a barrister to accept any work in a field in which he/she  professes competent to practise, at a court at which he normally appears, and at  usual rates.

Bishop was a lawyer with Robinson Cox  which became Clayton Utz ,   CSR,  was a long-time Robinson Cox client, and as a result . Bishop, then Julie Gillon, became CSR's instructing solicitor.

I have asked  (with little success) what P007 thinks of lawyers who have to represent murderers, rapists, paedophiles. No perceived grist for the ALP mill there though.

You do not get get it do you.  It is one thing to represent some unsavory people, people who have done terrible things, but totally other to object to a victim getting special treatment "just because they are dying".

No-one so far seems to have asked the most important question of all. If Abbott does get rolled, then regardless of who supplants him, how will it eventually  turn out to be all Labor's fault.

Bishop has made a career of being in second place.  She has had no relevant experience which a PM needs.  If there is a spill, I doubt that Bishop will garner much support.

Back to Julie...

Nov 2014

"In the 80s and 90s, she became the instructing solicitor for CSR, the parent company for Wittenoom mine. More than 2000 workers and residents have died as a result of asbestos diseases in that town โ€“ as a result of the mineral mined there.

Julie Bishop told Jordan Baker in The Australian last year: "We did everything we could to fight the case professionally - when I say fight it, to test the legal propositions, knowing that the other cases potentially rested on this . . . . did I stand there and say 'no, I have a moral objection to working on this case'? Of course not."

On 22 September 2008, Bishop was offered the role of Shadow Treasurer by Nelson's successor as Opposition Leader, Malcolm Turnbull.

5 months later......

On 16 February 2009, she resigned from the position of Shadow Treasurer, due to dissatisfaction within Liberal ranks over her performance.

yes it is possible because of the double standards.

the labor party would not run a misogynist campaign a la LNP/abbott.

bishop would be safe from that and could exploit all the "oh, see a female PM, look how modern and advanced we are" propaganda.

see, it is only a barren female dog if it's labor (or green).

None of the LNPers will want to take the roll of PM!!! LOL

....and we do not want Julie Bishop because her policies would be same as Tony Abbot's Rupert Murdoch's

If Bishop gets the leadership, she'll scare Labor because she'll gather a fair bit of the female vote as well.

But Bishop will have a harder time having to look down the barrel of the same gun the Libs were shooting at Labor during the RGR fiasco, without sounding like she's spruiking a double standard
