Don't normally watch 60 Minutes, but did tonight. How utterly disturbing was that "story" about the "Baby Gammy "couple ??
I hope the powers that be, keep an a very close eye on that whole case. Something just doesn't gell ? ๐

"Under Thai law the Thai surrogate mother is the legal mother of a baby in all circumstances and the only way Mr and Mrs Farnell could take Gammy would be if Ms Pattharamon signed papers to agree"
(from Sydney Herald)
Either way, husband or not, it doesn't make any difference under Thai law if that is correct, but indeed, if DNA shows it has been IVF only as stated, then the Farrells will not have a leg to stand on thankfully and I will be overjoyed particularly as Farrell is an absolute threat to the little girl.
The twins have been separated, and that is what is so upsetting.

super_nova, that post was from a different poster that I quoted.
You are absolutely right though, the supposed genetic mother is not an Australian.
There is so much untruthfulness going on about the whole awful situation, who could ever untangle it?
I don't even care about that, all I would like to happen is to see the dear little twins brought back together in a wonderful and loving home where they can know each other and grow up together safely and securely with nurturing supportive parents.

I don't have much time for the surrogate either. Did someone call her a saint?

I think that it is pretty obvious that those children have one non Asian parent.

Air time given to the couple has a positive result. Everyone now knows who they are, what they look like, where they live. Their every move will be watched and monitored by many. Better this way?
While I watched it for just a few minutes this man never lost eye contact with Tara. Odd? There was no remorse for his past disgusting behaviour and his wife hung to him as if she would lose him.....supported him in fact. Again what woman does that knowing he committed such acts against children over a period of 10 years.

It was no secret who they were & where they live though. No advantage to people outside their local area knowing what they look like.
IF you had watched all the program you would have heard him say that after his convictions he didn't move away and hide. People where they live know who he is and what he did (previous convictions).

But the supposed genetic mother is Asian not Australian.
I feel that nobody is telling the truth. The surrogate kept the boy for 7 months before she did anything? While the couple that commissioned this surrogacy looks totally untrustworthy, and change their story every minute, some of it sounds plausible. And we do not know how selectively and accurately were their statements reported.
Like having to leave the country in hurry due to the unrest, and not taking the second baby if they were told he is going to die within days. That would mean he would not be fit to fly. But these things are easily verified; to take the children out of the country and bring them here, they would have had to have travel documents for them. So, did they have papers for only one or both?
Another question is, would Australian authorities allow disabled child born o/s to come to Australia?
The Australian mother has been described as a mail order bride.
I don't know how or where they met but she hasn't been in Australia for many years.
I wonder why they used a surrogate instead of the mother carrying the child.
