If you give a gonski apparently there is a petition on the gonski site.
You can see what your school stands to gain on the site:

I think you really do know what you need to dio to ensure your kids get the education to which you believe they are entitled, even if it does mean swallowing a bible or two LOL'
its not that i think the money would be of no benefit, its simply on form and consistent with LNP ideaology that i realised the public schools will miss out.
Hand on your heart here LL,
Are you saying that IF Labor were our current government in power, that you would not have moved your children out of the public system?
That as soon as This government was elected, you went wow, best I get them into a different system?

It doesn't help our kids to do nothing and then blame the government when they can't get a job. That blame may be justified, but it doesn't help our kids.
We are discussing our Government /Politics,Election Promises...this is a Political thread
If you don't feel comfortable with other people discussing politics
and if indeed them doing so results in you personally insulting other posters rather than posting about the topic
.There are other threads.
The people of Australia don't answer to YOU for what the Government WE PAY does
They have a job ....do you mind if we acknowledge their responsibilty?

according to the legislation that YOU provided, our government IS doing it's job with regards to education. But it does appear that "some" do not understand or maybe not prepared to acknowledge exactly what that responsibility actually is.
But, my deepest apologies, the word GONSKI., in the title did kinda lead me to believe that this thread is about education and funding etc...

Yep and thats why the SES model doesn't work. And that's what the Gonski findings/recommendations aimed to address.
So what's your issue? I don't understand.
Gonski found that school funding in this country under the SES model sucks and is out of whack with the actual requirements of schools and their kids. Most educators and academics agree. Most of the states agree. Most politicians on both sides agree.
The Gonski funding model needs to be injected to redress the problem.
Or are you happy with the current system where the advantaged schools get more and more funding and the disadvantaged schools lose out year after year after year?
ummmm this is in the legislation providing the framework for Gonski.....
The SES model is still well in play....
Part 3 Recurrent funding for participating schools
Division 4 Miscellaneous
Section 52
54 Australian Education Act 2013 No. 67, 2013
Division 4—Miscellaneous
Subdivision A—Capacity to contribute percentage
52 Determining SES scores
(1) The Minister must (subject to subsection (6)) determine, in writing,
each participating school’s SES score.

@i-need-a-martini wrote:And another thing - you keep going on about how schools mismanage their funds and yet Gonski was very prescriptive about where the money should go.
Pyne on the other hand has handed over the money with no controls set cause he thinks the schools should not be limited by the Gonski recommendations.
Well that IS going to be a shambles - schools that will be handed over more money than they have ever seen and told that they can spend it as they please?
That IS a recipe for disaster and the complete opposite of what Gonski prescribed.
yes, The legislation supporting Gonski is VERY prescriptive about wher the money WILL go.
Pyne appears to be doing exactly what the legislation tells him he HAS to do.
Yikes. Who wrote that legislation? It seems to say something very different to what you believe Gonski is supposed to deliver...

@izabsmiling wrote:Silverfaun ....that is why the Gonski report was done ..A lot of input went into it...To improve the system
I don't think Mr Pyne accepts the findings .....which could mean that Australia has been conned (deliberately)

well, according to the legislation surrounding Gonski, Mr Pyne is so far doing exactly as it says to do, which indicates that he does accept it.

It hasn't been since earlier this year when The Australian Education Act 2013 was passed .....the former system was failing

But, okay, organised by Labour, so it's all good. This is what I have a problem with, the blind faith, the blaming of others, the not looking ahead of the next election.
We don't have a gonski....or a model atm
atm we have our Federal Government saying they will give out our money to our States and Territories
without strings ...that's all they are doing
nothing else
oh, you mean according to ther legislation that was created to implement Gonski?

no , julia and wayne and kevin did not dream it up, they commissioned the report. the results are (well were) clear. its odd that anyone would doubt their commitment to education, there's little or no doubt its genuine. this mob however
and yet their committment to funding for those with a disability was not questioned despite the disregard for the IPP report, eh?
