Khaled Sharrouf was born in Australia, as was his wife. Do (did) either of them have dual citizenship and do his children have dual citizenship? If they don't, how can the Government strip them of their Australian citizenship and refuse them re-entry to Australia?

Hello, Helen.
The discussion is about Shareef, his wife, his kids and the power that the Government has or should have or shouldn't have. No one mentioned paperwork or asylum seekers before you did. Is mentioning asylum seekers becoming the new "Godwin's Law"?

LOL. Better make that "Sharrouf". My apologies.

HYPOTHETICAL
The year is 2065. You are a three generation Aussie, of English heritage but with Australia citizenship only. You are an LNP voter, but for the past 15 years, the country has been run by a very popular, but increasingly left wing Labor Government
.
Due to Global warming Australia has recently had a run of severe droughts and is facing a serious food shortage. To combat this the government in it's wisdom, decides to introduce rationing and nationalise the farming.industry. The legislation passes while you and your children are on a holiday in England, visitng rellies.
Rationing you can live with, but as a believer in private enterprise, you are horrified at the idea of nationalising farms and you take to Facebook to vent your anger at the Australian Government. At the end of your rant you post a picture of Guy Fawkes, with the comment GUY FAWKES, THE ONLY MAN EVER TO ENTER PARLIAMENT WITH HONOURABLE INTENTIONS.
The post goes viral and soon comes to the attention of a Government that is approaching an election and facing an increasing voter backlash against this piece of legislation. Citing the authority initially granted to them in 2015 andsubsequently amended and expanded in 2027, 2048 and 2059, they strip you and your children of citizenship and refuse to allow you back into the country on the grounds that you are inciting terrorism and pose a threat to national security.
And don't say this could never happen, because history shows us just how easily it could.

you asked:
Why should other countries be responsible for Australian citizens?
for the same reasons australia is responsible
for other countries citizens - i thought was the
obvious answer

Nothing to do with asylum seekers as they are not terrorists. This thread is about the Australian government and Australian citizens who are alleged terrorists not asylum seekers.
Perhaps I should rephrase what I said.
Why should other countries be responsible for Australian citizens who partake in terrorist activities, or are family members of said terrorists, whilst in their countries?
Is that better?

what other countries?
they're welcome to stay where they are
Zaynab Sharrouf, who changed her name online to Umm Hafs, has been welcomed into the circle of Australian jihadi wives in Syria, who include the widows of Australian jihadists Mahmoud Abdullatif and Suhan Rahman.

"Other countries" means countries other than Australia. I would have thought that was obvious.
It was sad to read
For Zaynab Sharrouf, the fledgling female jihadist and new teenage widow, life is a world away from the girl who only last year declared she loved 'The Walking Dead, 'celebrities' as well as 'jewellery and phone cover shops'.
As a 13-year-old who in February last year had just been uprooted from a comfortable life in the Sydney suburbs to war-torn northern Syria, Zaynab Sharrouf sounded like a typical young teen, dreaming about romance with pop stars like Mahone and Justin Bieber. The eldest of the five children of one-time western Sydney schoolgirl Tara Nettleton and terrorist and thug-for-hire Sharrouf still appeared relatively normal in the months following her parents' decision to relocate the family to Syria while Sharrouf fought with ISIS extremists.
But then significant changes seemed to emerge in the young girl who in May last year was musing online about her favourite thing to do in summer being 'to spend time with my family on the beach' and who said her 'perfect honeymoon destination' would be the Queensland resort, Hamilton Island.
Following her apparent marriage earlier this year to Mohamed Elomar, who was 17 years her senior, Zaynab Sharrouf seemed preoccupied with the ISIS fight and radical Islam.
If strident online posts about ISIS and Allah made three months ago are genuine, it was a relatively short conversion to Islamic extremism for the young teenager.
