All this talk of kindles is making me want one!
Just went to Hardly Normal to look at carpet squares and asked there. They only have Iriver and said how good they are but I'm sure I read somewhere that kindle was the only way to go. The Iriver was only for wifi and if I'm right, wifi and 3G is the way to go.
See, you do learn things by reading these threads. Are they hard to set up - can an old computer illiterate like me work it out?
Sandy, I didn't do in depth research, but the Kindle is always being mentioned, and, more importantly, my 'puter peeps, who I go to with all sorts of questions, not just relating to 'puters, they have the Kindle, and that is more than enough recommendation for me!

Sany.... the only places to buy a Kindle in Australia is from Big W, Woolworths and Dick Smith

We have a wi-fi modem we take with us but I think 3G would be handy while waiting at the drs etc. I see you can re-charge with a usb plug that comes with it but need to buy a power adaptor if needed.
If you buy a cover with a back light, does this mean you can read in the dark?
You can get a cigarette lighter usb to charge in the car if you want.
Only got my cover with light today, don't know what it is like reading in the dark, but supposed to be ok.
We have wireless here, too, but went the 3G anyway.
Hiya Sandy- it was so easy to use.
It comes with a little instruction book, you charge it and then you read all the major instructions on the kindle.
I bought a pack yesterday from a hong kong seller that has a cover, light, screen protector, wall charger and also car charger.
It cost me just over $15.00
