Are you sure that beautiful "plate"  shelf won't be too close to the exhaust fan thingo when it goes up?

Plenty of room for the rangehood Sandy ....   I'm not a fan of sterile looking kitchens, they dont give the homely country feel that I want to achieve, the bits n piece on the bench dont bother me at all, I dont want everything packed away in cupboards, drawers etc. Microwave suits me where it is, I'mnot a fan of microwaves lon shelves.   Pimpy that pic gave me quite a start, far too may tiles on the right side of the cook top and def not in that colour, it contrasts too much with the walls.

Smiley LOL  sorry, I just did a search for light green subway tiles and stuck them in. It was more to give an idea on what they would looklike that high up the wall. The walls are light green aren't they?

If you want to take a squarer photo (looking straight at the wall) and tell me what colours, or post a pic of the tiles you're thinking of, I can try again, or someone else here who understands the mystery of photshop could (I'm afraid most of the photshop tools are beyond me)

Would have to think about that, dont really like the thought of tiles being that heigth right along to wall, to me it would look strange

I agree with you.

IMO the height should sit just below the powerpoints. Small, brick pattern and if you can get a simple listello that matches your benchtop colour then that would be good. Otherwise stick to the timber molding as this seems to be a feature in your house anyway.

Only do tiles high if you are planning to put a shelf on them to create a benchmark line. Otherwise your tiles will cut through rack and any artwork you put on the other side - these things should pop out of the wall rather than be sliced in half by a tile line.

Bushie, that brown strip ceiling/wall joint has to be painted.  I think the wall colour.

Currently it's reducing the visual height of the room (indicated by your photo).
