yes, i give kudos. and, i've had some.. its a new experience. do you think kudo-giving is a form of cyber-bullying when its backs up a critical post or remark ? is a combination of kudos and tags too much to bear, and do you think it divides an already fractured community ? is the community fractured naturally , and the fracturing not a concern ? is it not fractured ? .

I give Kudos if I agree with a post, also if a poster gives an interesting reply that makes me reconsider my opinion.....

me too but the haven't amassed any largish amount ...
Sparklz has actually amassed 100 kudos in 3 weeks and the most people looking (like you) will think their 3 week count is 3700

10 years ago I commented on eBay's good social engineering protocols, including the issuing of coloured stars to represent sale numbers.
Members spent a fair amount of time discussing something that was often similar to what occurred in primary schools.
Now we have "Kudos"

I am completely lost and can't see where you are looking to find the kudo's thing for others ?
I checked mine (which are visible to me) and I have kudo's from other members, but you have to remember only the AC had a 'kudo's' type button then - if you answered a question then the member asking could click Answer resolves question' which I think awarded 10 points. If another member agreed that your answer was helpful they could click Yes, and I think that gave 1 point.
Then it wasn't kudo's but the points increased and you were given a thumbs up sign under your name (id) for every so many points I think.
The members who spent a lot of time in the AC (myself included) would be awarded a lot more points obviously as at that time there was no point system anywhere else on the boards, and most AC'ers tended to say in the AC.
I rarely go there now coz I hate the place since it's new format was introduced and now play here.
Edited to say my answer is for colic (sorry)

For freakiness.... The extent to which I analysed posters Kudos is thus and the time spent mimimal
I clicked on the help icon up there ^^^^^^^^^^ near your username/ sign out/ my settings /help
and read the Kudos help

How can I see who else has given Kudos to a message?
Want to know who thinks a message is good?
It's easy to kind out which regular community members and community experts have given Kudos to a message.
Kudos that comes from community experts carries more weight (literally) than that from brand new members.
To see who's given Kudos to a message:
##################################################################################################
I was in a thread so I clicked on a members username and found they had 800 kudos
and I thought wow 800 odd kudos in 3 weeks
so anyways I clicked on the button that allows any member to see who gave the message Kudos and lo and behold I found that
the moderator integration had handed out 799 odd of those Kudos..............
so I clicked on the moderator Inegration Kudos gigven and noticed that it appeared they had handed out .
....to a very few members.........
...... thousands and thousands of Kudos.......
given that Lithium describes Kudos as
When you give Kudos to a message, you are offering a thumbs-up for good content and a pat on the back to its author.
Your Kudos helps to boost the value of certain messages and enhance the reputation of their authors.
Giving Kudos is as easy as a single click, but the impact of Kudos ripples across the community.
I quickly formed the opinion that the moderators actions would manipulate the thoughts of many readers......
I decided to highlight it in a thread
...and......
lakelands looked handy
I note that not one of the ecky thumpers
(MAYBE THEY HAVE BUT NOT UNDER THEOR ECKYTHUMP ID)
nor a MODERATOR has commented
I also note the bulk of the "kudos" hangover came from the "great answer centre points war of 2012" where the warring factions would give points at the drop of a hat to their clique With many points awarded for a mundane posts like "yes" or "I agree"
^^^^ took about 10 minutes I guess ...glad I did it or I may have given more "weight' to kudos but the moderator manipulation has tarnished any credence.. for me anyways

I am addressing your post on this thread freakiness specifically on my post above ^^^

All I am amazed about is that people actually have time to analyze the kudos other posters give to other posters.
No offence Iza, but who gives a rats about who kudos who?
Just curious, who are "those in power"?
Just be yourself and don't let anyone else have power over you.

Well I give a 'rats' because kudos is billed by its initiators as
""
Kudos is a new content rating system that lets you vote for the messages you think are the most useful or important.
When you give Kudos to a message, you are offering a thumbs-up for good content and a pat on the back to its author.
Your Kudos helps to boost the value of certain messages and enhance the reputation of their authors.

and I am not for manipulated kudos counts sending ripples across the community nor adding credence to anybodies post.

Reading this thread made me wonder why certain members were given 'back dated' kudos, and why haven't any of those answered here. (just wondered, don't really need an answer)
I looked at my own kudos and noticed a moderator kudoed a post of mine from 2011 in the US ebay answer centre.
My guess.....the moderators have actually been reading (and understanding, unlike liveworld!) the threads. Maybe to learn how ebay actually works, which would make for even better moderation.
And maybe people who have been answering at the answer centre received them for years of helping other members.

Thanks Colic , yours and MM's posts made interesting reading.
We weren't all pre-destined to have that pre-dated standing in the Community and not every yes or I agree is equal .

Jimmeh, I think you'll find that the back-dated kudos were given for posts on the buying and selling boards - and to members who rarely, if ever, post on CS.

Astroturfing
Some astroturfers deploy sockpuppeting techniques, where a single person creates multiple identities to give the appearance of grassroots support.
Sockpuppets may post positive reviews about a product, attack participants that criticize the organization, or post negative reviews and comments about competitors, under fake identities.
Astroturfing businesses pay staff based on the number of posts they make that stay up without being flagged by moderators.
Persona management software may be used so that each paid poster can manage five to seventy convincing online personas without mixing them up
