Lest We Forget

Today we remember all the brave men and women that fought for our country.  All those that died in battle and those that came home but the war killed them never the less.

Happy Birthday to my Dad, Jack, who served in the Air Force..  .

Lest We Forget

I am sure most people care....I know I do but I really don't feel it necessary to wear my heart on my sleeve and post on a public forum.

I have just been watching the Ceremony in Canberra and remembering my great uncle who was gassed in WW1 and suffered for the rest of his life...and my husband who went to Vietnam 3 times with the RAN.

Lest We Forget

Watching the ceremony on TV always brings me to tears for the young lives lost, and for what?! To preserve our way of life? Our way of life as percieved by the young diggers that put their lives on the line was not preserved after all.

Such a sacrifice of young men and women of all participating nations, but especially for Australia. A budding young nation that could ill afford to lose so many young lives, in relation to per head of capita.
