That article (assuming you read it) says just as much about abattoir practices in general as well as Halal-specific slaughter. 

Sadly the cruel practices identified in that article are not much different to the way animals are treated in Australian abattoirs - and that makes me sick too.

I have been to two different abbatiors in Australia and have seen NOTHING  LIKE THIS IN THE TREATMENT OF ANIMALS

NOTHING EVEN REMOTELY LIKE THIS

Thanks for the capitals, certainly added more gravitas to the argument.  The fact that you have been to two different abbatiors (sic) is admirable, however you must have been living under a rock to have not read recently about DISGUSTING CRUELTY TO ANIMALS IN AUSTRALIAN ABBATOIRS.

this is isolated cases of cruelty not a lifestyle of it

Of course there will always be cruelty against animals because there are people out there that don't give a toss

same as there will always be child molesters but that's another story

but the fact is that most civilized people would find the unnecessay brutality of animals abhorrent
