Living with the Enemy on SBS

I just watched LIVING WITH THE ENEMY on SBS.  The story about Ben the Aussie going to live with Lidia and Ahmed the muslims. Lidia is an Aussie and was raised Catholic and converted to Islam. Ahmed was born in Saudi Arabia.

What did I learn?

- Muslim women wont shake hands with a male person their not related to. (Very rude).

- When husband and wife muslims pray in their own house, the wife has to pray behind her husband. (Women are not treated as equals even in their own house).

- Christians are not allowed to visit Mecca in Saudi Arabia. Why? Because you have to be muslim to be allowed.

- Mosques can be built all over Australia but we can't build a Church in Saudi Arabia.

- The Quran tells muslims to kill people.

- In the mosque women are behind the curtain at the back. It's their own area. Why? Because the men have to be in a different section. Why? To give women privacy. This is the reason they cited. The real reason I believe is not to cause desire in the men.

- When they went shopping they visited a halal butcher to buy lamb shoulder. Ben wasn't consulted. What if he wanted pork chops?

- They went to Bondi to do an "Aussie thing called surfing". Lidia went swimming in her full Islamic clothing then when she came out of the water she placed a towel around her depicting the Australian flag.

1860, there was probably a mosque built before any church was.

Really?!  Handshake has never been used much in Australia anyway.   You should learn bit more about etiquette :

"The times have passed when it was improper for a man to shake hands with a lady. Our fight for ‘equality’ has seen us now become a willing participant in this bonding ritual. It is now expected within a business environment, for any woman who wants to be taken seriously, and increasingly common in social circles.

Times changed so that a man could extend his hand to a woman within a business environment, but he would need to wait until a woman extended her hand to him if within a social environment."

Re: Living with the Enemy on SBS

After watching LIVING WITH THE ENEMY it confirmed what I've known all along. Under false pretences they say they are Aussie but really how Aussie can they be if they wont shake your hand, wont eat Aussie meat, wont invite Christians to Saudi Arabia, their allegiance is to Mecca (direction of prayer).

Australia is a tolerant country who allow people from other lands to become Citizens.

We have 2 types of Pledges in Australia:

Pledge 1:

From this time forward, under God,
I pledge my loyalty to Australia and its people,
whose democratic beliefs I share,
whose rights and liberties I respect, and
whose laws I will uphold and obey.

Pledge 2:

From this time forward
I pledge my loyalty to Australia and its people,
whose democratic beliefs I share,
whose rights and liberties I respect, and
whose laws I will uphold and obey.

I do not believe for 1 minute from what I know and what I've seen that the Muslim faith is in any way compatible with our Pledge of Citizenship. Totally contrary to it.  The pledge states that "loyalty" is to Australia and its people NOT Mecca, Saudi Arabia.

1st church built 1793. Article from Trove. I love Trove for all the old articles I find there.

1st Church.jpg

1st mosque built in Maree 1861. The first mosque in Australia was built in 1861 at Marree, South Australia.

How does one get out of shaking hands, men always want to shake hands with me when with hubby, I find it would be rude not to do so.

sorry, I spelled that wrong.

The first mosque in Australia was built in 1861 at Marree, South Australia.[7] The Great Mosque of Adelaide was built in 1888 by the descendants of the Afghan cameleers.
