Why is a thread locked?? if a thread has violated CS policy, is not suitable to be commented on, but is still visible for all to read then what is the purpose of locking a thread?
This post is not discussing any thread in particular but is just a question that really needs to be addressed, why? because:
I'm sure there are many more arguments against this practice.

of course there is a presumption that posters are infantile and can't control themselves- check the board out- it's been sterilised and santised to within an inch of it's life.
The mods have done their job and cleaned the board up so much it's now boring, watching paint dry is just as entertaining.
No fun threads, no fun people- just no fun at all really.
To have such taskmaster mods is for the whole board to be considered infantile.
Most other boards, the mods take a back seat, and you can *shock, horror* actually have an opinion and basically say what you want.

is it possible that a thread would be locked simply because it received a large number of reports objecting to the contents within, citing pretend, imagined, perceived offence, even though it was not necessarily offensive, (offensive being a subjective term), resulting in it being locked in order to displace the apparent disharmony?

It's threads like this that bore everyone silly. You have nothing to say, nothing to add, but you're on every thread ever posted. So what if you have an opinion on yourself, nobody cares.
