Hen vanished for a few week and then reappeared with her brood, 13 chicks 🙂
All are well now and home where they should be 🙂

My mum was rather happy when the isa browns were slowly decreasing in number. She got sick of them scratching around on the back verandah. Brother started taking them a few at a time to the poultry sale in town.
Mum was having a cuppa and looking out the kitchen window when mother Isa strutted past with 11 newly hatched chicks in tow. Back to square one.
The neighbour's rooster was a good flier. lol.

Poddy, this chicken must be some sort of genius.
I wonder where she went? Chickens lay one or two eggs a day. Those eggs are not fertile, unless she has a boyfriend nearby.
How did she pull this one off?
Clever girl, and adorable baby chicks. Congratulations.

She couldnt have gone far, her colour blends with the surroundings at this time of year and th rooster must be very virial and she must love it too 😉
That is the largest brood I have ever seen I have actually found her hiding place and there were 2 other eggs there that did not hatch.
