Lottsa chicks :)

Hen vanished for a few week and then reappeared with her brood, 13 chicks ๐Ÿ™‚

All are  well now and home where they should be ๐Ÿ™‚

I know that you believe you understand what you think I said, but I'm not sure you realize that what you heard is not what I meant.

Re: Lottsa chicks :)

How many chickens do you have? Is Randy the only Rooster?

How do I post a short video taken with a camera?

My sisters Rooster counts his girls when they get put away every night. He has never secretly rendezvoused with one of the girls.

This is the cutest story I've seen in a really long time.

Lovely family.

Many years ago in the UK, I used to keep some chooks PLUS one very old Bantam, well past her laying age but kept all the same.

Anyway, we had a cockerel who of course had his way and one of the hens laid a nice clutch and sat on them.
They of course hatched and a big brood like yours.

But strangely, the old Bantam, which my mother name Henny Penny, took an avid interest in the chicks.
It was then we noticed that one chick was slightly smaller and a different colour than the rest.

In the end, we worked out that the cockerel had taken his liberty with Henny Penny and she had laid one egg,
For one chick hatched. Mum and daughter had quite a long life together although I am not sure the daughter
Realised it was her mum LOL

My hen Mrs Brown is sitting on 11 eggs at the moment, only 4 are hers. I think the the grand boy gathered up everyone else's eggs one day and stuck them under Mrs B

Re: Lottsa chicks :)

out of know where a drake attacked me in my own backyard...my first thought was to roast him, then he backed off to where these creepers used to hold up an old shed, whinging and whinging away. i could barely see a duck amongst the bushes sitting on about a dozen eggs, he was protecting his future family

the woman behind me who owned them would check on her each day

the eggs turned out duds but i got to know my neighbour pretty well ๐Ÿ˜„
