This article indicates that William Spedding is not a suspect
Also that William Tyrell's mother had spoken to William Spedding by phone on 12/9

I also read somewhere (can't locate it now) that William Tyrell's mother was at the grandmother's house on the day he disappeared ...
I hope the family get some answers soon.

"Police seized a mattress and a computer among other items in searched of Mr Spedding's home, pawnbroker business and unit in Laurieton this week.
The items will go through vigorous forensic examination."
Could be other person(s) that had access to the unit above the shop where the mattress and computer were taken from.

Mr Spedding is still considered as "a person of interest". The word suspect is not used these days, until much later, if at all.
William "Bill" Spedding's van was spotted at the scene of a massive manhunt for missing toddler William Tyrell before his house was searched as part of a homicide investigation.
It is very common for the perpetrator of a crime to be at the funeral, to be part of the search party, to be a firefighter if a bushfire has been started, etc.

There is also no evidence that Spedding was at the house when the child disappeared, he called to ask if he could fix the washing machine and was told no, some other time.
He says he was having coffee with his wife and attending a grandchild's school assembly that day.
What time was the child abducted?

No, he wasn't present doing wash mach repairs when William went missing. Not that I am suggesting he did this, but it is possible he could have been in the street that day and snatched the boy from the front yard.
William disappeared from his grandmother's home in Benaroon Drive, Kendall, at 10:30am on September 12. Police said he disappeared in a five-minute window while playing alongside his sister.

Instead, at that “crucial time” when William went missing, the Speddings were sitting at the Buzz Cafe in Laurieton, 10km from Kendall, according to Mr Youngberry.
“They have got proof that they were at the cafe because he paid for the coffees by card,” he said.
Mr Spedding and his wife then attended a presentation across the road at Laurieton Primary School, where one of the grandchildren was receiving an award.
Investigators were not aware of this detail before they questioned Mr Spedding this week, Mr Youngberry said.
“But I’ve downloaded the receipt and he (Mr Spedding) has now got it in his hot little hand,” he said.
“You order your coffee and you pay for it straight away, so it covers a reasonable period and it is a very crucial time.”

It could be a family custody dispute, a religious sect type of involvement, criminal involvement, who knows. If it was a team effort he could have been invloved in some way and deliberately got an "alibi" for the specific time.
Time holds the answers at this stage.
