After that gender speech she gave on the demise of Baroness Thatcher I would think it insulting if she did go but her duty is to represent the Australian people not her left union base.

This is far below what we expect from the top representative of our country.

What inferences are we supposed to draw from those statements?

And I don't believe you are really 'insulted' at all - you're just ticked off because she hasn't given you the opportunity to call her a hypocrite.

You appear to be doing a good job of that yourself windrake.

I think it is appropriate that John Howard attends the funeral as Australia's representative.  He knew her better, had more to do with her etc.  It just makes sense to me to send someone that had dealt with MT.
