Well, it's a wonderful piece of fiction.

every family has their own ideas about goulasch.
i can translate the recipes for you if you like. just make a pic and post it here or send me a pm.
i use beef 300 g, an onion big or 2 small ones, sweet paprika 1 teaspoon,2-3 tomatoes, bay leaf, oregano, capsicum, beef stock, pepper, salt and a herb mix my family sends me from germany
it's important to brown the cubes (and the onions) properly, don't turn them until they are brown, if it becomes watery, drain the water and put it back in later (do NOT throw it away) as i noticed that pommish descendants boil things then throw the stock away to eat it bland with a gravie probably made of crude oil from a dry packet eeeewwww.

I don't defend when I'm eating meat, I attack with my knife and fork and love every mouthful. Goes well with vegies too!

You must have funny Pom rellies Kennedia. I make great stroganoff and I'm pretty good with goulash. The new Jamie Oliver show made me feel a bit icky tonight when they were choosing their pigs to make sausages. Awwww
