I have found that a lot of vocal females keep harping on about equality yet they still expect to to receive special treatment because of their gender.
Perhaps it may be a good idea for some females to acknowledge that there IS a difference between the genders and embrace that difference instead of demanding preferential treatment and equality in the same sentence.
In case some of you women have not noticed, MEN and WOMEN are different physically. mentally and emotionally.
Both classed have roles that they are best suited for physically. mentally and emotionally.
Every task that has to be allocated should be on ability and suitability.
OK, now you girls can fire away ๐

C&P'd from Meeps excellent post 53:
"Over the four years that Abbott was opposition leader, he made virtually no changes to his shadow ministry. This was mostly to convey a sense of stability to the voting public, in contrast to the internal warfare wracking the Labor party. But Abbott's refusal to change his team during that time was also a signal to the young Turks in his party that no agitation or profile-building on their part would be rewarded with a ministerial slot. They were being told โ men and women alike โ that they had to bide their time. As a result, none were given progression opportunities.
In his quest to frame his first government as one comprised of grownups, Abbott appears determined to continue this sense of stability by still only making minimal changes. This makes sense for continuity too, considering the new ministers will be conversant with the ins and outs of the portfolios they have been shadowing for several years."
Surely the people howling "sexist" here didn't think Mr Abbott was going to sack senior and experienced members of his team to make room for a sprinkling of token women, however capable, to take their place simply to appease the feminist faction?
Such tokenism is no way to gain respect from your constituents, as we've seen from the previous government.
Does anyone remember the roughshod way Ms Gillard in her "captains pick" bulldozed Trish Crossin into the ground in her haste to appoint Nova Peris as the token "first Indigenous Labor representative in the federal parliament"? Poor Nova didn't know what hit her!
Julia Gillard's push for Nova Peris sets off week of brawls

Moves to stop pay rises for up to 350 000 of the lowest paid workers in Aged and Child Care are in direct conflict with Tony Abbott's Committment that no worker would be worse off

I agree with you and icy. People should always be chosen through merit. Only one female made the grade, according to tony, so which is right?
- the liberal party attracts incompetent females?
- the liberal party attracts competent females but the leader is sexist so they're excluded?

m*a*c
I have no respect for the former PM, just as she had no respect for the taxpayers in the way the their taxes were squandered.
I reserve the right to show respect to those who earn that respect and those alone ๐

I think you are confusing special treatment because of their gender with equal treatment despite their gender. Or perhaps you just don't understand the difference.

I agree and all members should be chosen on ability not gender FGS, if there are women who can contribute in a positive way put them on the front bench but if not then don't.
It's about time we stopped Tony bashing because he has chosen the very best cabinet to run the country whether male or female so as I said before GET OVER IT and let them get on with running the country.
If the women out there feel they are not equal to men and deserve a job in government just because there should be a balance of men to women GO enter politics otherwise stop the whinging please.
Keep it nice, I might cry if you write anything upsetting (like not)
