Muslim Community Establishes $ Million TV Studio

Members of Sydney's Muslim community have set up a $1 million television studio to counter the mainstream media's treatment of Islam in Australia.

From its base in western Sydney, the One Path Network films and edits videos for its YouTube channel, including interviews with local sheikhs about Islamic teachings and current affairs.

Mr Majanni said the studio was funded by community donations and staffed by a team of more than 20 volunteers.

A range of prominent Muslims including the grand mufti of Australia, Dr Ibrahim Abu Mohamed, and Associate Professor Mohamad Abdalla from Griffith University have endorsed the project, appearing in a promotional video.

Supporters include a range of Muslim clerics from moderate to conservative.

Known as a dawah initiative, the studio aims to spread the word of Islam among Muslims and non-Muslims alike.

Yep. Took me 2 hours in and 2 hours back for a 30 minute meeting in 30 degree heat. Not pleasant. And it isn't elitist at all - firstly, I don't live in a paticularly swish suburb and secondly, Mt Druitt on a weekday is a depressing site on a variety of levels.

But I'd be keen to understand the connection between some radical extremists and an ethnic TV station.

I'd also be intrested to understand this surprising distinction you have made on how Muslims are welfare "cheats but Aussies are "fully entitled".

Well Mr Elephant and I certainly love them. We are living  on a Government Superannuation Pension topped up with a part age pension - so we are grateful to all hard working Aussies (naturalised or not) whose taxes are putting food on our table.

Did you not read about the fact that known terrorist Khaleed Sharrouf, he who took a picture of  his little son holding up the severed head of an executed Syrian soldier, was on a disability pension? Now that's what I'd call HORRIBLE!

These are benefits they're entitled to. That the Australian government allows them via it's taxpaying population.

I think, if the muslim community is funding this TV studio, then a considerable part of that funding is coming via the Aussie taxpayer.

Well that's two out of populaion of over four hundred thousand. I would not judge any group on that percentage. Nonis was the man that granted a protection visa and citzenship by the Howard Government despite the fact his home country was trying to extradite him for fraud.

There are thousand of people getting disability pensions or sickness benefits that they should not get but I don't think that they all Muslims

If they can compete with the violent crazy types the result can only be positive.

Not at all. I never said Muslims are welfare cheats. Well certainly, not the majority.

If you read back you'll see where I said they were probably fully entitled to the benefits the goverment allows. 

Just that these benefits have in many cases been used in acts against the very government that bestows these benefits.

What is BS? The fact that I can give you statistics (and can back those stats up)? Sorry to disappoint you but I don't make vague statements without being able to back up my sources. I'm a bit pedantic that way. It's a shame others on here couldn't be a little bit more pedantic themselves.
