Members of Sydney's Muslim community have set up a $1 million television studio to counter the mainstream media's treatment of Islam in Australia.
From its base in western Sydney, the One Path Network films and edits videos for its YouTube channel, including interviews with local sheikhs about Islamic teachings and current affairs.
Mr Majanni said the studio was funded by community donations and staffed by a team of more than 20 volunteers.
A range of prominent Muslims including the grand mufti of Australia, Dr Ibrahim Abu Mohamed, and Associate Professor Mohamad Abdalla from Griffith University have endorsed the project, appearing in a promotional video.
Supporters include a range of Muslim clerics from moderate to conservative.
Known as a dawah initiative, the studio aims to spread the word of Islam among Muslims and non-Muslims alike.
Funded by Community Donations? A large part of that community is on some sort of Government benefit!

just in case I haven't said it (which I don't think I actually have) I think Icy is wrong
I don't have a problem if a group of society want to fund their own TV studio, especially if they are using it to condemn ISIS

What's next for Australia then, Deb, d'you think?
Their own police force, sharia courts, army?
Are you going to be able to keep a straight face next ANZAC Day when they honour the memory of thousands of young men and women who gave their lives to preserve the Australian way of life for future generations, while we let it be taken from us like candy from a baby?
that's a ridiculous post!!
and yes I can keep a straight face, for all my ancestors who contributed to building this great country
If these muslim people save lives by stopping young men from heading off to join the 'death cult', then kudos to them for funding this TV station.

what icy said is correct. information relating to
migrants receiving welfare is available on gov
websites. they show countries of birth, the ages
and types of benefits.
surprised no one has bothered to find the information.
maybe its because it would back up what icy said lol.
I actually did "bother" to find the information that you have been unwilling to find yourself.
If we look at welfare by country of birth, Indigenous people come first with the highest number of unemployed. Then Chinese. Then Vietnamese. Then Korean.
Those from Lebanon (which of course is not a wholly muslim country) come in at number 5 or 6 off the top of my head and then it is a while before we get to the next "islamic" country which I think is Turkey.
Italians come last by the way.
(that is from the ABS stats by the way).
Not all welfare recipients are unemployed. I found this survey done by DSS in 2011, it shows Afghan immigrants recieve the most welfare at 93.7% of households, employment rates for the Afghan immigrants are 9% employed and 8.3% unemployed. The other 82.7% are presumably receiving something other than Newstart benefits.

"Those heroes that shed their blood and lost their lives… you are now lying in the soil of a friendly country. Therefore rest in peace. There is no difference between the Johnnies and the Mehmets where they lie side by side here in this country of ours… You the mothers who sent their sons from far away countries, wipe away your tears. Your sons are now lying in our bosom and are in peace. Having lost their lives on this land they have become our sons as well."

It's not a TV station.

read the op again:

some sort of gov benefit includes a whole
range of gov payments/benefits/supplements.
icy's comment is correct.

Well done Martini! Now can you find the stats on those on the single mother's pension, the carer's pension, the disability pension? Just for starters.
Maybe Am can help seeing she likes to boast about her excellent research skills.

The Name of Anzac Cove was agreed by Turkish Government as an official name of this cove in 1985.
Imagine that; a Muslim country officially names a beach after an army that invaded that country and slaughtered thousands of its young men.
To me, that shows a generosity of spirit sadly lacking in some posters here.

Do you mean all single mothers, carers etc: or only those who may have donated money to that TV station?

you won't find too many, dare I say any single mothers in a sharia community will you? have a good idea where they go
and if your going to play that card any woman who is raped is going to end up in the same place
unless you can find 5 men to prove that she was raped - yeah right that's a joke
and what about the girl in the news that was beaten because she had a pair of pants on under her garb
so where are these gihadist coming from out of thin air in this country
are they not your uncles and brothers and sons
and maybe you might notice them at a barbeque when your toasting your wonderful life in australia when they lead a toast with
"death to the infadels" . Is that a joke probably a real party favourite
and do you know why australian people might imagine this is happening
because you protest too much about yourselves and as you do on this thread and everyother thread here very quick to condemn
continously slagging off at our government and our people and you would have no idea of what the people are like here because you have little intention of getting to know anyone that is not of your faith
Australia is a very tolerent nation with many different people of many different cultures that have lived in harmony for many years
and the same would be for you if you would keep your religion to your selves and not infringe or mock our lifestyle as we have seen so many times on TV
I could prattle on forever but the point of it is I am not and have never been a racist but the only way that you can live in harmony in this country if that is your agenda is to have some respect for all things that are not what you are
