My Mums update thread

This thread is dedicated to my Mother and her recovery.




On Monday the 4th June 2007, while holidaying in the UK with my Father, my Mother was struck by a van while crossing the road.

Mum spent 88 days in various UK hospitals before finally being brought home back to Australia on the 30th August 2007.

She is currently in The John Whittle Nursing Facility with brain damage

I have set up this thread to keep you all updated on her condition and her improvements and hopefully one day, Mum will be able to read it.

I dont' come into the chat boards at all any more, but i just had a feeling like i needed to come see how you are doing.

I am so sorry to hear that your mum isn't showing signs of improving, that must be so terribly hard for you, i have to admit i did just have a good cry reading your last posts since i checked over a month ago 😞

I don't know what i can say, i guess there is nothing i can say to take your pain away or make it less, but please know i do think of you and you're mum at least a couple of times a week.

Keep your chin up and try to stay positive, no matter how hard it is.

Don't blame yourself Amy. You're not doing anything wrong. You're just trying to deal with this as best you can. :-x

Amy, you have to remember that there are no rules for dealing with this. You are allowed to feel whatever you feel, there's no right or wrong. Please don't hate yourself for what you are feeling. Your emotions must be all over the place as, god forbid, they would be for anyone in your position.

They are what they are so try not to be too hard on yourself. Please please try to be kind to yourself. You are not a superhero without emotions so it is only natural for them to be all over the place. I just want to wrap you up and cuddle you to make the pain ease for you. You are very much in my thoughts.

i got my days wrong.
The phone call didnt happen yesterday as my sister was at work last night.
It happens this afternoon.

I did talk to dad last night and he seemed ok.
He says the brain injury unit in Dubbo has now put Mum on their outpatient list as they say there is nothing more they can do for her.

But I am also glad.........because it confirms what you and your Dad already knew and that has to be a bit of a help to the way you are feeling.
