My Mums update thread

This thread is dedicated to my Mother and her recovery.

On Monday the 4th June 2007, while holidaying in the UK with my Father, my Mother was struck by a van while crossing the road.

Mum spent 88 days in various UK hospitals before finally being brought home back to Australia on the 30th August 2007.

She is currently in The John Whittle Nursing Facility with brain damage

I have set up this thread to keep you all updated on her condition and her improvements and hopefully one day, Mum will be able to read it.

Re: My Mums update thread

tried calli dad all last night and im really cranky with him cause he was on the computer so i couldnt get through to him.

My sis ended up riniging me this morning.

So they gave mum her first dose in the morning. They gave it to her before dad got there and he was very angry about that so i dont think they'll do that again.

Mandy didnt get up to see Mum till about 4pm.

She said they were watching tv and something funny happened and Mum laughed and then dad told a joke and Mum laughed again and Dad said "well, she hasnt done that for quite a while"

So????

I really hope i get to talk to dad tonight.
I want to let him know that the Doctor in South Africa says to keep her on 10mg for a week and if it doesnt make her sleepy , up it to 15mg. The trick to getting the best out of this is to try and find the maximum she can take without getting sleepy

Re: My Mums update thread

:^O so they got a laugh out of her??? and not just once but twice??? that is actually really good news...

Has your dad got dial up??? If so he really needs to go on a basic ADSL plan to free up that line.. either that get msn so you can message him when you can't get through. His emails must take forever to go through and I bet if he discovered how fast ADSL is he would never go back.

Re: My Mums update thread

yeh cat- dad has shocking dial up. The slowest ive ever seen.
He is a complete no nothing when it comes to computers. No way could he ever handle MSN or facebook. He cant even handle emails.
All he does on it is browse ebay. He buys things but i have to complete the transaction (pay, leave feedback etc).
Theres no way he could organise for ADSL.
Ive told him that next time i go to Dubbo, i'll get him on ADSL.

Amy although I dont post often I have continued reading this thread & I am excited that she has had a reaction. I'm really surprised the nurse didnt wait for you Dad to get there, that must have been so disappointing ๐Ÿ˜ž
I cant wait to hear how this trial goes & I am sending you much love & good vibes :-x

Re: My Mums update thread

As a nurse myself I would have thought they would be really eager, interested & excited to be trialling this. I know I would have been!

Great news Amy.

MIght be different for a nursing home, but in the hospital we have to give medication at the time specified by the DR, its a DRs order. If that was the case, then they should have let your Dad know what time they would be giving the medication.
