My Mums update thread

This thread is dedicated to my Mother and her recovery.

Photobucket

On Monday the 4th June 2007, while holidaying in the UK with my Father, my Mother was struck by a van while crossing the road.

Mum spent 88 days in various UK hospitals before finally being brought home back to Australia on the 30th August 2007.

She is currently in The John Whittle Nursing Facility with brain damage

I have set up this thread to keep you all updated on her condition and her improvements and hopefully one day, Mum will be able to read it.

You poor love.

All my strength to you and your family :-x

I can empathise Amy, when it was time for my dear old Dad to go, it was completely up to me.

It was the right thing to do, you have to love someone so much to let them be at peace.

((((hugs))))

So sorry Amy.
Maybe she cried because she does want to see them?
We don't get to choose how long our mum's get to be here, however, the most we can hope for sometimes is that they are comfortable and pain free?

amy my mother had a heart attack and triple bypass just before easter and seeing her in intensive care and seeing how vulnerable she looked was horrific. i can't imagine what you have been through in the past 12+ months but i do hope that things resolve themselves for you and your family in whatever way is best for all of you especially your mum.
my thoughts are with you and i hope there are happier times ahead for you and your family. your mother will always be with you in your heart no matter what happens. best wishes always
Such is life.

Hi Amy,

It's the most difficult thing to give a loved one permission to "give up", but sometimes it's the most loving thing.
The problem is that all of you need to agree on what the right thing is for your Mum, & then you may have to convince the medical staff that it's what she would want.
It must be so heart-breaking to see her as she is now.
Thinking of you, whatever the outcome.:-x

((((Amy)))) I am so sorry that your mum has gone down hill so much.

The fact that she has curled up into the fetal position does tell you a lot - sadly.

You will know in your heart what is best for your darling mum.

Sending you love, strength and courage to do what you need to do. :-x

Hugs Amy,
I had hoped there would be improvement for you to see this trip. Do whatever is best for your mum & your family & be at peace with it. Its a decision that can only be made by those dealing with it. ((XX))

Amy you are having a really rough time, I am sorry. It is very difficult to see a parent suffering. I guess both your parents are suffering. You can only take it one day at a time, and hope she is not in pain.
