My Mums update thread

This thread is dedicated to my Mother and her recovery.

On Monday the 4th June 2007, while holidaying in the UK with my Father, my Mother was struck by a van while crossing the road.

Mum spent 88 days in various UK hospitals before finally being brought home back to Australia on the 30th August 2007.

She is currently in The John Whittle Nursing Facility with brain damage

I have set up this thread to keep you all updated on her condition and her improvements and hopefully one day, Mum will be able to read it.

thanks everyone.

I dunno, there really nothing to say. No changes.
Shes been suffering badly this winter with colds, as she did last winter, but otherwise is the same.

My sister is sick with a cold so hasnt been able to go see Mum for a week. Dad drops into her house on the way home from Mums to say hello.

spoke to Mum on the phone last night.
My son also spoke to her for ages and she made no noise.
But then i put Miss 8 on the phone and she only said "Hello Nan" and then mum started bawling.

Later that night i got a call from dad and he said Mum has started bleeding from her vagina.
Nurses dont know why but they will monitor her through the night and call the doctor today if she is still bleeding.

Amy I guess when someone is bedridden there are many complications that arise from it, it is not something I know much about. Hope they get your Mum sorted.

Do your kids understand what is happening Amy? Kids have a way of dealing with stuff that amazes me, they are usually stronger than we think. You are so grounded I am asuming your kids are too.

Mr 5 doesnt really get it but he is great on the phone. Just talks and talks and talks.

Miss 8 understands and gets a bit upset, esp when she hears her Nan crying.
