After several hours during the week clearing and cleaning up a messy garden my day started like this

I was much the same lloyds as far as judgements go, and we probably let things go on a bit long with my sisters family assuming that the problems were related to their early years, lack of discipline etc,etc...we just thought the new environment would change things enough.
I now realise the ritalin doesnt actually stop the naughtiness so much as allow the child to focus and concentrate in environments where its required, school of course, which in turn curbs the frustration and anger they often feel (which they dont understand) which stops them from lashing out and being restless.
Thats sort of my take on it based on how I see it working so far.
These are really intelligent kids who arent going to get the right start in life if they cant cope in a classroom situation, ritalin helps them cope. My nephew who is 7 had no friends until he started ritalin, now he has kids running to greet him every morning when he gets to school.

A change for the nephew already, wonderful. For him as well as his carers and siblings.
I'm sure a more stable homelife will contribute to the childrens' wellbeing.
Maybe there was some "copy cat" behaviour along with the frustration of needing glasses affecting the niece, too.
I am supposing some professional guidance for them to help themselves is on the agenda for the future. Their natural intelligence will be helpful for the progress and for them to find their niche in life, most likely.
I admire your strength to help your extended family.

Feeling 1/2 human today, not sure which 1/2 lol. Hubs kindly offered to go and do the dreaded grocery shopping, so while he is gone I have pan fried a pile of chicken legs, made a lovely coleslaw from home grown cabbage and celery ( not mine ), cooked the pasta and bacon ready for the pasta salad, now sitting and enjoying a cappi which I have earned lol
PH The family can only do the best they can for these kids, it's a hard call ..... They have to learn to cope in the world and the world has to learn to cope with them ..... Not easy for all concerned

My bathroom is small but its well laid out - except for the shower. That's right near the door and next to the lightswtich, wnen it could have been installed in the corner where the medicine cabinet is. The house was built in the 1950's and has a lovely deep bath and pedestal wash basin. I'm tossing up whether to move the shower over the bath or not.
The floor covering is **bleep** and lifting all around the edges. I removed a small area of it this morning. Whoever laid the vinyl put it straight on top of beautiful floorboards. No cement sheet or waterproofing just straight on top.
The bathroom is on my list of things to do.

When my place was built there were no inside bathrooms ( seems weird now ). My bathroom is quite long (17 feet ) and a tad narrow. The plan is the bath will go and be replaced by a large shower. A new vanity and linen press will be installed with a space for the drier under the linen press. I want to keep the windows, door and slate floor, they are the real character features of the room.
