After several hours during the week clearing and cleaning up a messy garden my day started like this before and after 002.JPG

Re: My day

Often wonder how many family members tolerate each other's company just 'cause it Xmas    ......  Great you have a nice MIL Amber 🙂

Can't believe how cold it is for Dec, my veggie garden is not liking this weather at all and neither am I 😞

Send me a PM then, I'll keep Mum.

Lots of nice little country towns, I go over there a fair bit and have friends throughout.

Re: My day

Okay I'm up and feel it's time to come for that morning cuppa.

Aps has been running around most of the night looking for someone to play with. I'd better step in before he gets into mischief.Smiley Very Happy

Punchie, since my Dad passed, my siblings and I have little get togethers. There is 40 years between the eldest and youngest grandchildren of our parents and only 2 of us are grandmothers ourselves and sis is actually a great grandmother.

With one sister in Queensland, she misses out sometimes.  My own children and I are scattered and fractured unfortunately.  I've only seen my grandkids twice.Smiley Very Happy

Will have a quiet one here myself.  But I will test the trawling traffic early Boxing Day to meet up with a sister and her family on the mid-north coast.  Perhaps my daughter will be able to meet up with us coming from a different direction.

Part II of the morning soon.

Re: My day

Hi aps.

Tasfleur welcome to the world of gardening. See, it's easy to learn. If someone asks you about spots on leaves, you'll be able to identify and give a possible solution and they'll think you are a "wonder" at gardening.  Just play along with it.  Trial and error and observation is the rule.

Sometimes, we have to think of a plant as a long term bunch of flowers especially if NOT bought from a proper nursery.  Often cheaper than the florist's offering.

Wandering around in the garden yesterday evening (when I should have done the vacuuming) I identified a couple of plants that have been my easiest to care and maintain.  Of course, your conditions down there are different to mine here on the Central Coast.

Mandevilla.

Murraya.

Loropetalum a) Plum Gorgeous planted so that the western sun shines through the leaves is magic;

and b) ?original green with white flowers)

Part III of the morning coming soon.

Re: My day

Good morning everyone.  It's a beautiful, sunny, fresh morning here with an expected temp of 24 (beautiful).

My day yesterday was very busy - last minute baking, watching the kids, cooking dinner for them, then delivering my plates of slices/biscuits last night while they were still fresh.  I have 4 left to deliver today and am so relieved that my Christmas gifts to friends are out of the way.

Today after I walk I need to bath the other dog (one was groomed yesterday), deliver the plates then start wrapping some presents as I haven't wrapped one as yet.

My favourite Christmas treat are those Cadbury's marshmallow santas and I just happened to buy a packet for Frank to give me at Christmas - I limit myself to one a day (4 in pkt).  Last night a friend gave me 1 1/2 boxes - 60 bunnies Smiley Surprised.  I need to use all my willpower with these but I will distribute most of them around.

I must admit I love Christmas - we are a very small family.  I am an only child and Frank had 2 sisters but they both died young so he is essentially an only child as well.  Our daughter is gay so no children and our son and his wife have the 2 kids.  At one of our meals, we are usually all together but our daughter is not coming up this year.  We will see her for her birthday on Boxing Day.  It is our dil's families turn this year but we are always included - and they come when it is our turn.  There will be 17 of us at Matt & Kim's.  They have a large patio and we have a smorgasbord lunch with all of us contributing.  We have 2 bain maries and a couple of turbo ovens which works really well.  I have to do a tub of cauli/broccoli in cheese sauce, the gravy and the sweets.  I have made my plum pudding and I also do a trifle and pav plus something for the kids.  I was doing cupcakes but might do mashmallow cups instead.  I do everything the day before except the creaming.   We have a kris kringle for Christmas day so you only need to buy one gift each which is limited to $20.

I am thinking of going to our local carols in the park tomorrow night.  Depends on the weather.  We have a great sound shell in the park.

Anyway, best move.  Hope everyone is coping well and has a good day ....

Ditto, not a Christmas person. I normally head off bush at Xmas but this year staying as I better have one Xmas with my parents, they are getting old !!!

Like you, family used to have big Xmas's but I just found it crowded.

It only takes one person in a crowded Christmas get -to -gether to drink too much and it ends up being a Christmas Day everyone remember's for the wrong reason.
