After several hours during the week clearing and cleaning up a messy garden my day started like this

so sorry to hear about your stove Sandy, that's very disappointing.
Freddie, Nic's friend is just away interstate visiting family, it sounds to me like she has a pretty good 2015 coming up
the fireworks at Docklands last night were spectacular but my cameraman was too busy having a good time, and messed up with the video he was supposed to be taking,so, he's in disgrace today and gone back to bed. It did look as if he was getting a good video last night, but he must've turned the phone on and off again, so we don't even have a photo........ Men!

Is this bird a Rosella? I have seen lots of them around town in the Grevillea trees and Bottlebrush shrub/s trees. A couple of days ago we had a mass of them in the same type of shrub/trees close to my house. They took off everytime I tried to get a close photo though.
Because of their colouring they blend in with the red or yellow flowers/green foliage of the trees also. They are very noisy, so alert people to their presence.

I think so Am, but not entirely sure. Here we get flocks of green and red ones or is it blue? lol They sleep in particular trees at night here over summer

No, it is a Lorikeet

Happy New Year!
Sandy I am sorry you new oven is giving you grief, could there be a prob with installation? I know when the plumber installed mine he didnt adjust the gas/air mixture correctly, until it was sorted out, it caused me all sorts of probs trying to use the hotplates.
DEB I love the sounds of the birds, do you get lorikeets there as well? It's parrot time here atm, 1000's of them all screeching their little heads off, with a kooka or or two thrown into the mix, trying to out do them lol
Debra I am feeling your pain re hubby not recording the fireworks, MR B did the same thing re our wedding, he set the video camera up in the church, fiddled with it for ages to get the right position, then forgot to ask someone to turn it on ...... grrrrr
BC This is going to be YOUR year, renos inside and out and the motivation to get it all done.
We are currently sorting out garden watering probs here, long b/yards are great UNTIL you need to get water to them.
Hope everyone have a relaxing day

Thanks Deb, I popped into the RTR thread and see where Nic cleared up my question on here
that makes me happy Nic deserves a happy relationship.
My son feeds the Lorikeet with honey on bread at his place, they even come down and feed from his hand. If the sliding door is left open they even go inside. He has a favourite called 'buddy', buddy will fly beside the car for a distance as they leave to go away. Buddy went missing for a while but arrived back with her babies in tow for honey on bread in the past few weeks ![]()

This is a lorikeet (photo from the net). It looks to have more colours than the birds I saw. Although my photo isn't close enough to compare them.
