My day

After several hours during the week clearing and cleaning up a messy garden my day started like this before and after 002.JPG

Re: My day -

Yeah its a big difference isnt it. Admittedly we have changed from laying them on concrete to laying them on sand, but even that wont have made over $5000 difference to the price. We are still waiting for the first guy to get back to us with an amended quote.

Its not a huge area and we already have the bricks, so the only materials they are supplying is gravel and sand.

Good morning

Punch, that's really not good about the shed. Think the tree guys were going to fix it, not insurance? Guess it is holiday time so that might be holding things up but they really should have made it a priority ๐Ÿ˜ž

Re: My day -

Yeah they've been a bit painful. Because we built the shed out of all recycled material to give it a rustic old (really old lol) look, we didnt really want the insurance company coming in and making it 'new'. I dont think they wanted to make a claim either.

We didnt hear from them for most of the week so resigned ourselves to the fact we'd have to just sort it ourselves, then 7am Saturday they turn up with all the materials Smiley Frustrated They were meant to come back later that day and cut up the trunk but never turned up.

So who knows, maybe they'll be back maybe they wont. Hubby's been cutting a few bits off the trunk everyday and slowing getting through it. It'll probably take him a few weeks if he has to do it all himself.

A post came up in my facebook newsfeed earlier, a local tree lopper had dropped a tree right on someones swimming pool just before Christmas and seems to have left them in the lurch. Different bloke, looks like some of them are tarred with the same brush though.

Re: My day -

Good Morning everyone.

We first got the NBN in 2011.(Optus) Moved house and got connected again (Skymesh) beginning of last year. A great improvement on what was available before, and never had any problems with it. I don't know anyone who has.
The cost of it is a lot lower than what we paid before, per GB. As Telstra didn't have much competition their charges were very high for broadband. Now there is a big choice of providers.

B3 your invoicing problems ( sounds terrible) would be your internet providers issues rather than a problem with using the NBN broadband service?

We did have a short outage recently, and were given extra 100GB for a month by our provider.

Re: My day -

That's a positive ๐Ÿ™‚ our internet is great, quick and not expensive. Had a look at plans for the NBN and it will go up. Next suburb along has had connection issues (just not working; no news on when it will be fixed). The install wasn't complete. That's why I am worried...will be the same team here.

Re: My day -

Darn re the shed PD, hope repairing it doesn't end up costing you money ....  BIG difference in quotes for the paving, it sure does pay to shop around  .... Don't get me started on tradies lol   ... Know what you mean re putting thing off, they guy who bought our old clothesline  finally came and remove it yesterday, only took him 5 weeks to get here.  The view from backyard yard looks so much better with it gone, can never figure why people always seem to stick them right in the middle of the yard.

Obviously some people are happy with NBN and some people aren't, depends where ones lives I guess.  We are with Telstra atm, more than happy with our broadband service and cost, so don't really want to pay much more than we do already.

Quite humid here today, have finshed muching all the front garden and the natives I planted aound the fence line, staep are progressing quite nicely, depite all the muttering from Mr B lol

Re: My day -

Apparantly we are in a notoriously "black spot".  They gave us a booster arial to try - so far ok but we shall see.  They are also endeavouring to get the current wifi contract cancellation fee waived and we will then connect to NBN - time will tell.

Still raining here - lots of new homes being built in the village and this will hold things up.  So nice for the gardens though.

Re: My day -

Talking about the difference in quotes, we've recently had our music room ceiling replastered.  The first quote was over $5000, we nearly fainted, it couldn't possibly be that.

Second one was $1,525, same materials etc, so of course, we jumped at that.    He did a wonderful one man job in less than three days and even cleaned up brilliantly as well.

It was incredible that the quotes could be so horrifically different, lots of price gouging going on I guess ....  Smiley Frustrated

Those new steps look magnificent Bushie.

Our problem is really with telstra - and has been since we went with them for NBN...

We were stuck with them as OH's new mobile is bundled with the home phone and still under contract... and because he works in remote areas he really has to be with telstra.

This has now been an ongoing 3 month fiasco

*sigh*

Re: My day -

We found that NBN and Telstra do not communicate well.  Took us six weeks to get our home phone sorted when we moved here because of it.
