I do wonder if people who lose their memory keep their real personality?
I watched something yesterday that links heart disease to dementia.
Az, I can't answer for all cases of dementia but in my father's case he turned from a gentle, tolerant, well mannered man into a rude, racist biggot. I was heartbroken to lose my gentle Dad and when I visited him in the nursing home I would seek out the nurses to apologise for his behaviour. He was quite happy to regale me with all the terrible things he said to the nurses.
Thankfully his nurses were very understanding and assured me that it was not uncommon for dementia patients to become like this....he was the polar opposite to what he had been before this cruel disease took hold.
The two nurses aids that really incurred his wrath were big burly Islanders who were the most gentle men you could ever meet. When either of them came to his room for any reason he refused to have anything to do with them, called them darkies and headhunters and was generally awful to them. I was eternally grateful to the Matron when she arranged for female nurses aids to get Dad ready for bed at night so as not to upset him. I was more worried about the two lovely men being abused!!

Is your dog okay, Bushie?
My step grandmother ended up with dementia and went from being a gentle, sociable woman to a nasty b. She was pretty amazing, though, and had a fantastic life. Her parents were trapeze artists with a circus that travelled through Europe pre WW1 so she was born, in Spain, into the circus. She didn't follow in her parents' footsteps and emigrated to Australia where she met , fell in love and married my grandfather.
The gardener and his assistant,[his wife], have arrived. He said that he told his wife not to get a fright when she sees my backyard. LOL. Most of my backyard is fine and it is only one section that has become a jungle but you can't see the tidy part becaise the jungle keeps it hidden from view. The gardeners love cats which is fortunate because they have a couple of bengal supervising.

Getting new boots is always good news. Wearing boots is one of the few things that I like about Winter.
