After several hours during the week clearing and cleaning up a messy garden my day started like this

That's good to hear your trip went well.

It's raining; it's pouring; the old lady's snorting.
No not that stuff. A warming, Velvet Cream in milk.
Attired in the lounging uniform - with socks.![]()

Whipped and stripped. No not me. The trees all around. From the wind. According to reports about 130kph on the Central Coast.
I've never experienced such a prolonged occurrence with such ferocity. The large ironbark trees up on the hillside have been assaulted, with the noise of trains or semitrailers roaring through them.
We have localised flooding in the area. Every 1/2 hour or so, an emergency vehicle passes by.
All okay in the scheme of things in my immediate vicinity. The wind has tapered a bit and some of the birdlife has emerged from ....where do birds go in storms for protection?
Trakky daks on. Lamps are on. All cosy.

I don't think we got it quite so bad (wind wise at least) on the Sth Coast. The wind got to 98km/h at 1am where I am, according to news reports.
Electric blanket got plugged in...not usual for April.
I will be interested to see if my daughter (who has been in Syd yesterday and today on a placement) comes home tonight with her umbrella ( a good one, that I bought her recently) still in a useable condition.

People getting sent home from work early (Syd CBD) due to severe weather warnings.

I saw a house floating away on the news. Where was that?

The wind is still roaring through here (near Sydney ariport) at 72k/h with gusts up near 100k/h and it is a LOT calmer than last night.
We have lost power 3 times in the last 24 hours....the first and 3rd times were only a few minutes but around 2am it was off for several hours.
It is probably 30 years since we have had such strong winds for so long.
I am living in fear of the next door neighbour's gum tree. It was a sapling when we moved here 45 years ago and now it is huge. The canopy has spread so wide that it overhangs our fence line and has a slight lean towards our property. If it comes down it will wipe out our bedroom but miss the neighbours house by miles.

Our neighbour planted a gum like that right on the boundary, right next to our building but well away from their new house. People are just considerate that way (those particular ones are considerate about everything...not). They are the first to complain about everything themselves, of course.
Hope everyone stays safe. And cosy ๐
