After several hours during the week clearing and cleaning up a messy garden my day started like this

Bushie, I Googled Portland RSL....very impressive memorial gardens as well as a great turnout for the march.
They must be the envy of some of the suburban RSLs who have very little room for any displays...just a small memorial stone.

Yoo hoo. Morning all, on this cloudy, grey, damp morning on the Central Coast.'
Well, the bulky bits of my storm debris is on the verge, the front yard is tidy once more and I tilled and planted some bulbs in a bare patch of "what on earth could I put here" section of useless sloping mulched soil.
Sporaxis bulbs - this is what it WILL look like in Spring***I hope ****
Bushie, I'm impressed with the display for Anzac Day the Portland RSL club had; kudos to the curator of the garden. And you've planted more bulbs too. With positive "quirks of nature" your garden bling will be show-stopping.
b3 still hard at it in the Reno Dept. My Dad, who's gone now, signed up in Sydney served as RN Military Police WWII, he was captured in China and served 3yrs 9months as a POW. Didn't talk too much about it, and never attended a RSL event or march. Everyone remembers in different ways.
Lyndal you're up early. Is that usual?

Hi Deb,
I fell asleep in front of the TV with my laptop open beside me. That in itself is not that unusual but this morning I decided to do a quick check of the boards and my emails as I did not feel particularly sleepy.
It is a miserable morning here too.....definitely more rain on the way to follow up the 20mm we had overnight. Looking at the forecast I think we may be swimming by the end of the weekend. I just hope the gum tree does not decide to up roots and fall over. The ground does drain quite quickly here as it is very sandy.

Good morning, gorgeous sunny day here atm
DEB and Lyndal, apparently Portland RSL has been doing this display for around 70 yrs. Most of the flowers used for the display are grown at the Portland Botanic Garden, plus some special donations from the general public as well. The Was Memorial looks out over the bay and is a wonderful tribute to those brave man and women.
DEB hopefully you have managed to get most of your yard cleaned up, dreadful situation for all concerned. I have planted some mixed Sporaxis as well, I havent grown them before, so fingers crossed.
Lyndal, have you been able to make any more progress re your neighbour's tree? It sounds quite dangerous to me.
B3 I dont envy you re the painting, I hate the smell of paint, it makes me sick, so we have to wait until the warmer months to re start ours, so all the door and windows can be left open. I love Daylilys, there are some stunning ones around these days, I hope yours do well for you.
All good in the Bushie household, busy as usual getting everything outside "winterised"
Hope everyone has an enjoyable day 🙂

Good afternoon to all the Dayers .... xxxxx
Looks like everyone is busy painting, gardening, moving and generally bravely getting through it all bit by bit.
Quite a bit going on here as well, but mostly in the way of cooking, cooking and cooking ... ![]()
We're trying to get a freezer full of meals as we prepare for the concert next month, it gets kind of frenetic and crazily busy for the next month, not to mention what is happening towards the end of the year interstate ... but not complaining, it's all very interesting and there's never a dull moment ...
... having said that though, just wait until next year!
Take care those who will be caught up in the storm coming, batten down the hatches and stay safe.

PS ... Folks in Western Australia around Geraldton and that area, you'd better batten down your hatches too just in case. From what can be seen on the live satellite radar, it looks like a cycone is headed your way ... "Quang" ??
Stay safe, hopefully, it might disappear out to sea!

The backyard opera started early this morning.
Kookaburras laughing at the magpies who sat atop the uppermost perches singing **I'm the king of the castle, and you're the dirty rascal***. The butcherbird appeared to ignore the performance and scrounged around the scenery and backdrop looking for the confectionery counter.
The latecoming audience of noisy miners couldn't decide on the seating arrangement.
They all add muted colours of greys/browns/blacks to this cloudy morning. Unusually warm breezes are increasing speed.
Well, that's about the only performing that will be done around here today.
Good morning everyone. Those in flooding areas take care.

Sounds like a lovely start to the day, DEB.
I finally planted those bulbs yesterday as well as some carnation slips. The gardener and his wife have almost finished the backyard with perhaps only a couple of hours of work left to be done. Its looking good but not ready for photos yet.
I have a friend coming over tonight so I had better pull my finger out and get this house in some sort of order. Take care those who are experiencing bad weather conditions. Oh, and since today is World Naked Gardening Day, gardeners please make sure that you wear sunscreen.![]()
